[LincolnTalk] Chimney Flashing replacement repair contractor recommendedation

2024-05-01 Thread Sharon Johns via Lincoln
Dear All,

We have noticed a leak into our attic roof space that is above our breezeway.
The leak runs down the chimney and we are thinking it is due to the chimney
flashing leaking, as the roof was replaced by the previous owners of our home
in March 2021.
We are looking for someone to come and take a look at what is going on to best
advise us on how to effectively fix the problem.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,

Sharon & David Johns

America's 11 Most Endangered Historic Places: 2024 List Unveiled

Today, we unveil the 37th annual list of America's 11 Most Endangered Historic Places.

This list spotlights the threats facing significant sites of American history each year.

It continues to be a powerful, galvanizing tool for historic preservation that has highlighted over 350 places to date and has been so successful in rallying support that just a handful have been lost.

The sites on this year’s list are irreplaceable and teach us about ourselves. The geographic spread in this year’s list shows how our collective idea of American history has expanded in recent years, along with ideas about which places are worth saving.

Historic sites are a gift handed down from past generations. Once they are gone or diminished, you can’t make them whole again.

See the full list and learn what you can do to help protect and support these endangered historic sites.

[LincolnTalk] Agency Recs For PT Sitters

Hello!

Might anyone have any information on a local agency that can help place a
part-time babysitter? We're finding that they generally only place
full-time sitters :(

We would prefer to use an agency for several reasons.

Please share any helpful information you might have.

Thank you so much!

Re: [LincolnTalk] Addressing traffic congestion due to school drop- offs

I expect this will get worse once the Route 126 bridge repair gets
underway. Although they will be leaving one lane open, I imagine a lot of
people will look for alternatives and there aren't many choices. Lincoln

Also there is construction this week on 126, making it one lane in parts.
So commuters are probably switching their routes.

It has been my observation that the majority of cars backed up on Lincoln Rd,
from the 5-way intersection to Lincoln Station, are not related to school drop
off, but are commuters passing through our institutional corridor. In the
afternoon the line along Bedford Rd from the 5 way intersection effectively
crosses Rt2 all the way to Rt 2A on some days.

[LincolnTalk] Walk Bike Roll FAQs Week: Day 3

2024-05-01 Thread John Mendelson
This week is Walk Bike Roll to School week for the students at Lincoln
School. So that the adults in Lincoln don’t feel left out, the Bicycle &
Pedestrian Advisory Committee (BPAC) is offering Walk Bike Roll FAQs week
for adults; all you have to do to participate is read the daily message
sent to LincolnTalk. Day 3:

Q: Does a driver have to give 4 feet of passing distance to a pedestrian,
someone riding a horse, or an e-bike rider?

Yes. Drivers need to provide a “safe passing distance” of at least 4 feet
when passing any of the following vulnerable road users:

A pedestrian

A roadside worker

A person operating a bicycle, handcycle, tricycle, skateboard, roller
skates, in-line skates, non-motorized scooter, wheelchair, electric
personal assistive mobility device, horse, horse-drawn carriage, motorized
bicycle, motorized scooter, or other micromobility device, or a farm
tractor. (MGL Chapter 90, Section 1

)

Speaking of e-bikes, you are invited to learn more about e-bikes and try
one at our second annual e-bike demo in partnership with Wheelworks
on *Wednesday, May 15 from 6-7pm* at the
Brooks Gym parking lot!
