Re: [LincolnTalk] Fwd: #ShavethePeak alert 4-8pm today 🌡️

2024-07-09 Thread Frank O. Clark
I am pumping 8 kW to the grid now, and my two Powerwall batteries (fully
charged with solar power) will continue to dump 10 kW into the grid as part
of Tesla's "Virtual Power Plant" until well after nightfall until the
batteries are drained.
I had planned to double the batteries last fall to four, since I can
charge that many on solar power, and Eversource fought me to a standstill
until I withdrew the request (I was paying for them).

[LincolnTalk] Repair needed for small electric mower

2024-07-09 Thread Risa Lavelle
Hi,
Wondering if anyone knows someone who does small equipment repairs or a
place I can bring my small green works electric mower.
I can’t seem to get the motor going after fiddling with the wires. It has a
40v charger.

Thanks

Thar's good to know. Recommendations are important. Here's a contractor
everyone should stay away from. Bill Waite, Custom Builder, in Bedford.
He, too, is a friendly guy and does high quality work, but it is impossible
to get him to come at times. He left us for months at a time without
explanation. He also doesn't know how to manage the finances. He was always
behind paying his subs, so they all quit on him, leaving us high and dry
until he could find a replacement, or come up with the money. He still owes
us work after 8 years! I'm constantly amazed that we survived this
nightmare.

[LincolnTalk] Vet recommendation for nervous, semi feral cats?

2024-07-09 Thread Julia Altman
Hi everyone,

I need to find a vet to see a couple of sweet but semi feral cats. I’d like
to find a vet who knows how to handle semi ferals & who has technicians who
are also experienced with nervous cats.

I like my regular vet but I’m not sure that the techs are up to the
challenge of handling a semi feral.

Any recommendations? I see that a couple of vets from the Concord Animal
Hospital are FearFree certified but I’ve never used them for our animals.

Thank you!

Julia

Re: [LincolnTalk] This article is based

2024-07-09 Thread Heather Ring via Lincoln
Such a fun article!  Slang can be an awesome tool to connect with youth and
breakdown barriers.  This spring I incorporated slang into middle school
history lessons and projects.  I observed reluctant learners engaged in
discussion when the terms were accessible and comfortable for them.  Can you
discuss aspects of an ancient civilization using modern slang and have a
meaningful discussion?  Absolutely.  When students are researching important
people and accomplishments in history they often delve deeper when proving why
the person/accomplishment is the “GOAT” of that civilization.  Slang brings
students together and crosses language barriers.  It can spark creativity,
engagement, and deeper thinking when incorporated into learning.

Love it!

It’s surprising how. much of the slang I learned as a teen were words that
infiltrated the decade before, more or less. A surprising amount of those words
were related to the 60s drug culture.

[LincolnTalk] good contractor

2024-07-09 Thread Christina Thompson
Hi Lincoln,
We just had a small outbuilding repaired following storm damage -- tree
fell on it. The work involved roofing, carpentry, plastering, and painting,
plus some window repairs.

We used Kovalko Co., run by Peter Kovalko, and I just want to recommend
him. They did such a beautiful job, were friendly and easy to deal with,
and cleaned up perfectly. All around a great experience.

Peter came recommended to me by a friend, so I just want to pass this
along. HIs company can be found at: https://kovalko.com/
