Re: [LincolnTalk] Jumping Worms

2023-08-18 Thread Anne Warner
Yes, they are very bad for the garden because they eat all the organic material and leave your soil sterile. I so hope we don’t get them over here in North Lincoln. The idea of picking our thousands of large worms by hand and killing them in a Paul of vinegar and water sounds absolutely awful. - Sent from iPhone. Typed by thumb. [LincolnTalk] jumping worms

2021-10-12 Thread Gordon Woodington
The treatment for worms on golf courses: does it kill just the jumping
worms? or also some other worm types? Maybe golf courses by using
chemicals and mechanical aeration don't need to keep alive a worm
population. So this treatment is not for all needs?

Anyone know what is the chemical composition they use?

[LincolnTalk] Jumping Worms

2021-10-04 Thread Peter von Mertens
Thanks Michelle and others for the information on Jumping Worms. In one
of the sites (which I could not relocate with a hasty search) is a
suggestion for bringing the worms to the surface by mixing 1/3 cup dry
mustard powder with 1 gallon of water and generously splashing it over a
suspected area. The worms don't like it and rise to the surface and you
can pick them up and dispose of them.

We find that covering the bottom of a disposable plastic container with
some of last winter's left over ice melt (essentially salt) will put them
out of their misery in a minute or two. Put the lid on and send the whole
mess to the dump.

They seem to be every where.

Peace Peter
