Re: [LincolnTalk] What bird is this?
It’s a belted kingfisher and is definitely in some kind of distress, my guess would be a window strike if it was sitting out on a deck. If it hasn’t flown away already I would advise contacting a licensed rehabber ASAP, and this link provides good info on how to prevent birds from flying into your windows: https://abcbirds.org/glass-collisions/stop-birds-hitting-windows/ Corey Nimmer -- The LincolnTalk mailing list. Re: [LincolnTalk] What bird is this?
Hi All - I agree with Rich and Bryce on the King. Additionally, Leslie, that was my first thought when I saw the bird. I just heard a news report that in a new study, bird experts believe the illness is not being spread bird to bird and may be coming from birds that have ingested cicadas. There have been no reported cases of this illness in New England where we obviously don’t have any cicadas (this year). Hoping this mystery is solved soon as I’m missing my songbirds… Best, Paula Robinson 617.981.1945 > On Aug 5, 2021, at 8:11 AM, Leslie Turek wrote: > > I hope that’s not the mysterious bird disease that was killing birds to the > south of us. > > Leslie > >> On Aug 5, 2021, at 6:39 AM, Bryce Wolf wrote: >> >> Appears to be a kingfisher…in some distress, judging from the panting. I hope that’s not the mysterious bird disease that was killing birds to the south of us. Appears to be a kingfisher…in some distress, judging from the panting. Hope he has flown away by now. > On Aug 3, 2021, at 7:52 PM, DEBBY ADAMS via Lincoln > wrote: > > Seen on a deck in Lincoln, cannot identify it. > Anyone know what this bird is called? > > > > Sent from my iPhone-- > The LincolnTalk mailing list. > To post, send mail to Lincoln@lincolntalk.org. > Search the archives at http://lincoln.2330058.n4.nabble.com/. > Browse the archives at https://pairlist9.pair.net/mailman/private/lincoln/. > Change your subscription settings at > https://pairlist9.pair.net/mailman/listinfo/lincoln. > -- The LincolnTalk mailing list.
