QTVR FOV x (PAN & TILT)
I developing a CD-ROM that has an image archive that will contain pictures that can be zoomed Thwy are very big (arround 2000x2000)pixels, so we choosed to implement it using QTVR panorama with Warpmode set to #none. It works fine standalone. The next step in development is showing a thumbnail of the image with the zoom-square marked on it. This is the part where I am facing problems - the relations beetween FOV and MAX/MIN PAN makes no sense, it seems that there is a non-linear relation beetween those. The panorama has a 0.81 pixel aspect and its being displayed as a 4:3 aspect(1.333) sprite (this is one of the examples) if I zoomout at maximun I get a (sprite n).fieldofview equals to something arround 67!?!?! why not 100 degrees that is the 'node sweep' of my QTVR movie?? ok then, but where this number comes from?? I need to make a relation beetween the s.FieldOfView property and the percentage of the image that is displayed. after that I need to get the max/min pan for each FOV value... sounds dificult even if I get to do that, i will still need to do that for the TILT property too Am I in a mess?? ehhe I wonder if should I move back to a big bitmap + mask - but that runs very bad on older machines (K6-III-500Mhz wich is our standard bad-machine) please, any help would be very appreciated (it is due dec 20th) and its only one part of the CD. Hi Fabrice, Here's a variation on Buzz's handler that allows you to scale the title, and keep it transparent and in its original color. It's a good deal faster than the other handler of mine that was quoted, but it only deals with 90° turns. If the text uses more than one color, you'll need to rotate the rgb channel as well as the alpha channel: there's a line in the code below that you'll need to uncomment. (Caution, though: a bug in Director means that parts of letters that overhang others may appear in the wrong color). text prerendering?
Can anyone tell me the details of text prerendering? The docs say that turning on pre-rendering causes the text to be rendered when the text cast member is loaded, instead of when it appears on the Stage. And that the Save Bitmap feature aids this by saving a buffer image with the movie. But as far as I can tell, the buffer image is always saved when a pre-render option is selected. So I have to wonder about the rendering-on-loding claim. Anyone know the inner workings? Re: How to rotate a copypixel image?
OK. I think you should try the James Newton handler, but the principle is like this: You can use a rotation matrix to rotate a vector (or another matrix). a point (x, y) in an image is a vector. A 2d rotation matrix looks like this: [a, b] [c, d] where a = cos a#, b = -sin a#, c = sin a#, d = cosa# (a# = alpha = the angle) To rotate a vector you multiply the matrix with the vector, which is simplified to: x_new = x_old * a + x_old * c y_new = y_old * b + y_old * d This will rotate the image around the center, but you need to decide the size of the new image before starting to write pixels to it, so using Newton's handler saves you some hazzle. -A. You should be able to map your image (text and all) to a book-shaped 3D object, after which your user should be able to rotate it any way desired and then print it as part of a general stage image grab. Maybe not, though. But as you mention specifically that the user is to drag or rotate items to place them on the 'cover' anyway, I might really think about doing that. It could turn out pretty cool. Re: How to rotate a copypixel image?
Thank you for the reply Warren, but thats not what i mean. i compose an image in order to save/print it. it works if all the members are the way they are. now i want to use/paste a textfield rotated on a bitmap, for example the side of a book. the text is 90 dg rotated and the image is still the same as cover, the problem is that the text field sprite is rotated, the member remains the same: unrotated. Then i use the member("xxx").image to build the new image. The all thing is happening in background. in order to be copied, printed or saved. the user drags/rotate the elements the way he wants. then i compose it using the .image info and screen positions for the .offset. Hi Fraser, That worked almost perfectly (I promise I searched the online help and didn't notice that code). It actually prints the current frame of the movieclip which actually is much more useful to me than the system of printing frames marked with #p. Thank you so much for taking the time and trouble I really do appreciate it, it's 5am and I can finally go to bed for 3 hours :) Thanks again, Regards, Peter Witham Internet and Multimedia Solutions http://www.evolutiondata.com icq: 4436851 MSN: [EMAIL PROTECTED] -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] On Behalf Of [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Thursday, December 12, 2002 4:45 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: RE: Printing flash movieclip frame in director. according to the manual you can call sprite(whichsprite).print(["targetName",#printinBounds]) with targetName being the movie or the movie clip to be printed hth Fraser [To remove yourself from this list, or to change to digest mode, go to http://www.penworks.com/lingo-l.cgi To post messages to the list, email [EMAIL PROTECTED] (Problems, email [EMAIL PROTECTED]).
