Was: Prob w/key commands. Solved...well kind of
Hi Dan, I've got a solution...well kind of. It's clunky and unattractive but it's working. This is definitely a Director "quirk" that spans MX and recent (heh...and not so recent) Dir. versions across all platforms. After looking around a bit more on the web and seeing instances of similar difficulties, I employed the oft recommended "fix" of removing and installing the menu. Now, whenever I've launched a MIAW, I remove and reinstall the menu. There's a visible "bump" when the menu is removed/installed (definitely not pretty) but at least it fixes the key command problem. It'd be nice if the Macromedia folks would think about fixing this one since it appears it's been a problem (documented by MM folks themselves) since about D5. Hm. Thomas H.? Prob w/key commands w/install menu
Hi All, I've some installed menus (using installMenu) which include key commands. Key commands work fine until a MIAW is opened and then forgotten. After the MIAW has been opened and forgotten key, commands no longer work with the projector. Anybody have experience w/this? What am I doing wrong? Have you looked over the included behaviors with Director? Have you looked at the various support sites (including Macromedia's) for alternatives? Have you looked at what might be achievable by Xtras? Does anyone have such a script for me?? Probably not. We don't exist to just hand out scripts at random (especially complex ones) for free. Build some collateral. Help others on this and other lists, then start asking for free help. Meanwhile, if you're not willing to try even a little, flunk your class or tell your client you just don't know how to do it. scroll bar for lingo 8.5
Hi - Does anyone have a ready scroll bar? I am looking for a scroll bar that moves a number of sprites (dynamical amount) either left-right or up-down. Does anyone have such a script for me?? loadMovie - flash -> lingo
Is it true that director 8.5 (lingo) does NOT support loadMovie() from flash?! In MX it does work Does anyone have a solution for this problem?? flash - lingo - loadMovie
Hi, I am using director and flash. The main application is in director, and it communicates with flash. I am using director 8.5. In flash I am using loadMovie("xxx.jpg") to load movies dynamically. In flash it works perfectly, but in director it does not do a thing. I even tried it in director MX - and it does not work. Other functions DO work - I succeed to make them work from lingo - but this function does not work at all please help!!! Re: government / video question
I've had good luck with MPEG-1 recently. Plays great on Windows and Macs without installing anything, and even the warnings about non-standard video window sizes have so far proven to be unjustified. I've used 720 x 404 video in one product and couldn't find a Windows machine that would not play it well inside a Director movie. This is with MPEG Advance Xtra from Tabuleiro. The video quality at that size is no worse than Sorenson done at half the size and blown up. Grimm, surely you know that given the current state of paranoia in the US, we're ALL doing video for the government, advertently or in. I'm actually finishing up something I need to hand in (not subcontracted or anything) and I'm trying to figure out the best type of video to use... of course personally Sorenson / QT can't be beat; especially for it's scaling feature...but I've no way of knowing if these users have - or would be allowed to - install QT on their machines. Um, maybe you should ask someone, such as the group for which you're making the production? Or did you just start creating stuff without any idea at all what your final user base would be? (I'd find that hard to believe of you.) I mean really, how could you get this close to finishing something but still not know what your final target platform was?
