Ok guys a little question here. I have experience with importing and
controlling QT movies in director but now I want to use a full screen
(800x600) mpeg video in director. I have to digitalize the movie myself
so with what do i have to consider and what are the things I need to do
in director. Do I use the same scripts (movierate = 0 or 1) like with
using QT, do I need an xtra,

Any ideas and suggestions (movie based and director based) are welcome

Do you have version 4 or something earlier? They changed the

Audio xtra

2002-10-17 Thread Tom Vandenbossche
Hi

I got a project from another client. In those scripts he uses the
register command to register the Audio Xtra on PC. The problem is that
my Director gives an error on that command. "#register: handler not

I also get a Audio Xtra menu under the Xtra menu so that's OK

The script has written correctly because it is used before. So it's
just the installation that does not work on my computer

Please help me here

How do I do this effect? Is there an xtra for this?

copy folder

2002-05-07 Thread Tom Vandenbossche

Hi

I want to copy a folder from my cd to the users desktop (MAC)
The folder contains other subfolders and files.

I tried to use filextra fx_folderCopy but it gives always a folder not
found as an errorcode. I see in the destination folder (desktop) that he
creates a new folder but with nothing in it. So if he says folder not
found how can he create the new folder then with exactly the same name
as the original? I tried differnet things out. When i just place a file
in the folder to copy he copies the folder with the file in it but
gives me still the result that the folder cannot be found!

Are there other xtras that i can use to copy folder.
I know budyapi can copy files but not folders so that's not a solution
either.

But when I want to run it under WIN NT it constantly says "cannot open

I tried the Trial download fom you guys and i fill in the port from COM 1 to

That means ha can't create a child object of my Xtra.

I have read that the Xtra works under NT so.?

Or does this means something else? I have tried this on computer with a
internal mode, external modem, no modem. When I run it on 98 it all goes
well. What Am I doing wrong here and why can't he find any com ports?

white flash

2002-02-28 Thread Tom Vandenbossche

I've made a project in several languages. When they f.ex choose for english
the external cast will switch to the english version. Common thing I think.
I used this isn several other projects too and it always worked. Now in this
project when I change from movie to movie I always get a white flash between
the two movies. I've never had that before.

This is the script I use

on preparemovie
set the filename of castlib "switch.cst" to "switch" & string(glanguage)
&".cst"
  updatestage
end

the cast has just a 30 text-castmembers so It's not loaded or something.

When I remove the script the flash is gone

Any suggestions?

Directcomm Xtra

2002-02-25 Thread Tom Vandenbossche

Hi

We have bought the DirectComm Xtra and I was wondering I need to find the
port where the modem is installed. so I do a repeat function to read COM1
through 9. He finds my modem at port 3. Now if there are other devices
installed like a handheld or a mouse they are also connected to a COM port.
Now i have to be certain that my script only detects if there is a modem
installed or not.

Now a couple of questions:
Can directComm only communicates with a modem or other devices too?

I send an ATi3 command to the port. Is this command only valid for modems or
for other devices too?

Conclusion how can I be certain that when I exit my repeat function the
result of my ports is only my modem while other devices may be installed
also.

Thx for helping me out here

detecting mail application

2002-02-22 Thread Tom Vandenbossche

Is ther a simple way to detect if there's an email application installed on
the users computer.
Note: There are different mail programs so just deecting on outlook is not a
way and it has to be crossplatform

I know buddyapi can find an application by searching with a file type so I
was wondering if mail application has a file type

Thx

QT3mix.dll

2002-02-21 Thread Tom Vandenbossche

I have a cd-rom where QT3mix.dll is on. And I have one without it.
The one with the QT3mix.dll plays fluently and the other not. When I copy
that dll to the one without it it is still the same. I was wondering now if
it is possible that the dll from the good cd is copied during the startup
process ont he HD and if so where do I have to place it?

Hi

does anybody know if there's still an Internet Connection Wizard for IE 5.1
or 5.0. I know it was delivered with the IE 4.5. I need that package with
director to create an Internet Connectivity CD for an internet provider and
I need to change the .ISP file dynamically from director.

projector crashes

2002-02-06 Thread Tom Vandenbossche

Hi list

I'm using dir 8.5 and from my start file I want to create a projector. My
projector opens another movie (intro.dir) in the map "data". So I use the
syntax
play movie the pathname& "datas\intro.dir" like I have done for years.
Now when i start my projector it crashes constantly when he tries to open
the intro.dir file.

I have made several projectors and have tested some things like first opens
another movie in the data folder and so on. But nothing helps it keeps
crashing.

Anybody knows what to do?

PS I have installed the updated 8.5.1 version too but that doesn't help
either
