Re: SLES11 install

2009-04-03 Thread Thorsten Diehl

Hi Mark,

please omit the OSAHWaddr! However, in that case booting the instsys
will not run unattended anymore. When the setup routine asks for the MAC
address, please leave it blank (press enter twice under z/VM) and the
remainder should work.

By the way, it has been a good practice to limit the parmfile to 9
lines; maybe that this restriction is no more valid.

With kind regards
Thorsten Diehl

Re: Guest Billing

2009-04-03 Thread Barton Robinson

for linux servers, ESALPS also gets the disk space by server. Does that
help?

Marcy Cortes wrote:

If you want to change for disk space assigned, not just the i/o sent to
those disks, you'll need to either gather that out of the directory
source with some code of your own or buy something like CA's VM:Account
product.

Because I get asked often about accounting and charge back for Linux
processes, z/VM virtual machines, and Linux applications, I've put up
more material explaining what data is available, and how to get that
data.  The web page is at http://www.VelocitySoftware.com/account.html;

We currently bill for Linux on a per guest basis. I'm wondering what
approach others are taking. Specifically, I'm wondering if it is
possibl e to bill at the process level and if anyone else is billing
that way.
