Re: 3592 drivers for Linux on zSeries
Pieter, We have 6 3592s that are FICON-attached, and all the tape units (3490, VTS/3590, 3592) are housed in an IBM 3494 Tape Library Data Server that is shared by one MVS and two VM partitions. Tape management on VM is done via VM:Tape and the RMS utility of DFSMS. BrightStor Backup is a work in progress: their driver modules did not work right out of the box with the 3592s or VTS, but they do now. The goal here is to provide lights-out enterprise-wide backup using a Linux/390 instance and the automated tape library. FCP of Ficon? Are they in a library of any sort or are they manually operated? You mention BrightStor Enterprise/ARCserve Backup, I assume you use them with that. What are you using for tape management? Also a CA product? If the 3592 is attached via ESCON/FICON and running in 3590 (compatibility) mode the tape_3590 OCO driver should work. However only with 3590 functionality... I don't know whether the SCSI OCO would support 3592. /Stefan Pieter Harder [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent by: Linux on 390 Port LINUX-390@VM.MARIST.EDU 01/14/05 09:18 PM Please respond to Linux on 390 Port To LINUX-390@VM.MARIST.EDU cc Subject Betr.: Re: 3592 drivers for Linux on zSeries Mark, I can't, I don't have the hardware (yet).
