cure is a fairly simple one.

and look down for the San Francisco SHARE last August.  My paper number 9341
has the answer on slide 16.  At least, it cures this exact error for us!

 It's all lowercase.

This is a well-known problem in sharing r/o disks among VM linux images.  The cure is 
a fairly simple one.

Go to Mark Post's Linuxvm.org site to the SHARE presentations at
http://linuxvm.org/present/

and look down for the San Francisco SHARE last August.  My paper number 9341 has the 
answer on slide 16.  At least, it cures this exact error for us!
