If you mean you're running evaluation software, that doesn't come with any
support. If you mean the 30-day installation support that comes with Basic,
then go for it.

Hi Mark,

No, I don't believe so. But I'm still within my trial period. I'll place a
call.

Do you have a support contract with Novell for SLES on z? If so, please open
up an SR.

Re: SLES 10 SP 2 - OSA-Express Setup Assistance

2008-11-19 Thread David Stuart
Hi Mark,

I'm configuring via YaST(2), as that's what I'm most familiar with.

What I'm trying to set up is two separate ports, following the naming standards
for the 'domains' on the other LPARs.

eth0: ip: 157.145.4.159 name: tcpgalileo
eth1: ip: 157.145.4.160 name: ftpgalileo

They both share the same network mask: 255.255.252.0, gateway: 157.145.4.50,
and dns servers: 157.145.4.48, 157.145.4.26

right now, eth0 is running as 4.160, and it will not connect when I try to ssh
to it. Also, it does not respond to a ping from my PC. eth1, running as
4.159, does connect.

The basic idea is to separate the 'small block size' traffic from the 'big
block size' traffic (ftp, lpr, Samba, NFS, etc).

Thanks,
Dave

I think you're going to have to provide examples. Commands issued, results
received, etc. What you want to do, as you experienced previously, is entirely
feasible.

How are you trying to configure the interfaces? Via YaST, or manually? What
configuration parms are you trying to set for each of them?

Are the two OSA adapters on the same physical network? We have lpars with two
OSA adapters, but they are on different networks.

Subject: SLES 10 SP 2 - OSA-Express Setup Assistance

Afternoon all,

I recently installed SLES 10 SP 2. I am running in an LPAR (no, no z/VM...).
I have two OSA-Express cards that are shared with other LPARs. Both work, but
not at the same time. It seems to be either one or the other.

On a previous install of SLES 9 SP 3 on a 9672, I was able to have two OSA(/2)
ports up and active, each with their own IP address and name. But on SLES 10
SP 2, it doesn't seem to matter what I do, only 1 port will be active and
accept connections. And I can't seem to assign different names to the ports.

All ideas and suggestions welcomed.

Thanks,
Dave
