You mean "I don't understand ther instructions"

I don't know how to do it or My Linux can't do it.

Where do you get your writing skills from? This is poorer than
age 11 level of skill, surely!

Now there is command "make Makefile" I can't use it..
In my corel Linux it says bash command not found. There is File Makefile

So install "make". Apparently you didn't. And install a C compiler
while you are at it!

And please, do NOT attempt to compile your own stuff. Use your distros
packages.

OK folks, I'd appreciate some pointers as to what to do to diagnose a
problem with my Panasonic SR8585B CD/DVD drive under RH7 (2.2.16-22 and
2.4.0 kernels).

Symptoms are that the drive will often (always?) refuse to unmount
claiming device busy and any subsequent CD inserted shows large
quantities of files and directories called where the number of ?s
can be quite large.

Anyone know if the drive firmware is a bit odd, or could it be a
chipset issue? Using an Asus A7V with the drive on the ATA66 secondary
controller. I'm planning to migrate to the Promise ATA100 controller
soon, but in both cases the drive is the master and has the IDE bus all
to itself.

TIA

g'day
i recently installed redhat 6.0 on an aptiva and have got a weird problem -
when i move the mouse in x-windows env, the monitor makes a "buzzing" sound
(there is no sound when i don't move the mouse). There is also no buzz if i
drag it over a blank desktop - only when the cursor changes from an x to an
arrow. i have a sis6205 videocard(2mb) and an ibm g70 monitor. the problem
does not appear when running win95 on the same system, even in the same
vidmode. ibm and sis have been exceptionally unhelpful. does anyone have
any ideas?
thanks in advance,
ben wilson

Hello

I try to install Linux (Redhat 6.2) on three panel PC Advantech
PPC-102T. It doesn't work very well.
Sometime it freeze during install, sometime the install was good.
But after install, when I use it (try to work with the Elotouch input
for X) it freeze !
It is a random process, it can freeze during boot sequence or when I
invoke ls or vi or when I work under XWindow (simple window manager :
fvwm). Sometimes, I got som kernel panics !
I suspect a hardware problem (on 3 PC ?) so I try to use other SIMM
memory but without success.

Does anyone have some experience on this kind of problems ?

Thanks

I wouls like to buy a dual chip motherboard, but I have no experience on
this, so I would appreciate some advice. I'm loking for something cheap,
but powerful, i.e two Celeron or two K6-3. How much would this cost (the
mb and the chips), wich is the better option, waht mb. model should I
get, etc. Can anyone help me on this?

Can anyone recommend a 3D card for use on Linux.
I own a Voodoo 2 and it works, but very slowly. I'm thinking about
buying a Voodoo 3 or TNT 2, wich one is better for Linux? (better
performance, drivers, etc)

Wow, that all sounds a bit messy! Ive no idea what could be causing that.
Ive installed Corel Linux about 20 times (!) and Ive never seen that. Im not
gonna bring you through stuff like check if your keyboard is plugged in
properly etc. cause I know you're a beginner, not an idiot! It could be some
sort of hardware conflict but thats a complete guess. My advice is go out
and get a copy of Redhat. The installation program may be a bit more
complicated than Corels 3-step approach but its a solid distro. The lack of
input in Corel's installation means you dont even get to choose a mouse or a
keyoard! Try it and see. Otherwise, see if you can get another copy of the
Corel cd or try a different keyboard, just to make sure.
