Quoting man mount: The type iso9660 is the default. If no -t option is given, or if the auto type is specified, the superblock is probed for the filesystem type (adfs, bfs, cramfs, ext, ext2, ext3, hfs, hpfs, iso9660, jfs, minix, ntfs, qnx4, reiserfs, romfs, ufs, vxfs, xfs, xiafs are supported). If this probe fails, mount will try to read the file /etc/filesystems, or, if that does not exist, /proc/filesystems. All of the filesystem types listed there will be tried, except for those that are labeled "nodev" (e.g., devpts, proc and nfs). Note that the auto type may be useful for user- mounted floppies. Creating a file /etc/filesystems can be useful to change the probe order (e.g., to try vfat before msdos) or if you use a kernel mod- ule autoloader. Warning: the probing uses a heuristic (the presence of appropriate `magic'), and could recognize the wrong filesystem type. ^ = To unsubscribe, send mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the word "unsubscribe" in the message body, e.g., run the command echo unsubscribe | mail [EMAIL PROTECTED]

You need to use uxterm in order to use utf8 in xterm. uxterm is a script that launches xterm with support of utf8. Then you can type in hebrew. Reading hebrew is not the same as writing in hebrew. tip - counting files
Here's a handy tip (although I'm sure this won't be news to many gurus). I recently needed to count how many files I had in a directory and all sub-directories. The following command does it: find /path/to/your/directory -type f | wc -l Just remember that, of course, it'll only count files in directories you have permission for. So, for example, runningfind /home -type f | wc -l will only count your files and give error messages when trying to enter other users directories. -- Shlomo Solomon http://come.to/shlomo.solomon Sent by KMail (KDE 3.1) on LINUX Mandrake 9.1 = To unsubscribe, send mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the word "unsubscribe" in the message body, e.g., run the command echo unsubscribe | mail [EMAIL PROTECTED]
IGLU FAQ and Hebrew keyboard layouts
Hi, I followed the recent discussion about developments in the IGLU FAQ, and wonder whether somebody could expand on the 4 different keyboard layouts (in fact, this needs to be integrated into the KDE help, too). I know that there are different layouts, but don't have the slightest clue as to what the difference between them is. In particular, I have no idea how to get niqud under Linux (I rarely use it, when I do, I am forced to use the insert character kind of options of either KDE or OOo). Thanks for the good work, FAQ authors, Arie Folger -- If an important person, out of humility, does not want to rely on [the Law, as applicable to his case], let him behave as an ascetic. However, permission was not granted to record this in a book, to rule this way for the future generations, and to be stringent of one's own accord, unless he shall bring clear proofs from the Talmud [to support his argument]. paraphrase of Rabbi Asher ben Ye'hiel, as quoted by Rabbi Yoel Sirkis, Ba'h, Yoreh De'ah 187:9, s.v. Re: nfs mounting query
from my experiments (mandrake 9.1, kernel-2.4.21-mdk0.25) and from the NFS(5) manpage it comes out that UDP will be the default protocol linux will try. you can specify otherwise on the mount command (mount -t nfs -o tcp server:/share /mnt/bla) but that will cause that if TCP fails it won't fallback to udp. just a note: on Solaris 8&9 (and HP-UX11.11) the default is TCP, and SUN even recommends on using TCP... SUN invented NFS) Noam Erez Kirson wrote: Hi From my knowledge it does fall back to UDP, I have tried this with NETAPP filers where you can just turn off "nfs tcp support", The linux client tries to mount tcp and then falls back to udp.
