That's a nice uptime. However, weren't there any newer kernels released since
with important security updates? Won't that potentially jeopardise your

Who is the party? What subjects you raised with them? What distro you are

Hebew in Fedora 10.

2009-02-07 Thread Dotan Cohen
I installed Fedora 10 with KDE 4. I have installed kde-i18n-Hebrew
however I still cannot add the Hebrew language in System Settings.
What else should I add? I have been googling for an hour and gotten no

Any Israeli KDE programmers want to fix bugs for beer?

2009-02-07 Thread Dotan Cohen
Although I cannot code and as a poor student I cannot pay a programmer
for programming time, I would like to encourage Israeli KDE
programmers to take care of some issues:

Recurring events on Hebrew calender
http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=149614

Hebrew calender: Shabbat times

Hebrew calendar plugin: print Hebrew dates when exporting calendar to HTML
http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=181110

Although any and all mailing list members are always welcome to stop
by for a beer, extra beer will be poured for those who can help close
these issues! Thanks!

1. it's a bit confusing - kde-i18-hebrew is the *KDE3* package for some reason.
you should yum install  kde-l10n-Hebrew for kde4 suuport. i tested it
just now and it works fine.

2. i also recommend upgrading to kde 4.2, you have a repository for that here:
http://kde-redhat.sourceforge.net/ (follow the YUM section for

it's much much better than what the distro comes with, finally i'm

Hebrew didn't make it into KDE-4.1.x, as Diego chose (correctly IMO)
to focus the limited time of the KDE Hebrew team towards having a
better translated KDE-4.2

The Fedora KDE team is heavily testing and bug-fixing KDE-4.2 for
the release. In about a week it should land in the official
repositories (which means you would get it if you simply yum update
your system).

The kde-redhat release are good if:
 - You are in a hurry and need it NOW.
 - Or you want to help debug it (in that case it may be better to
use the live-cd/DOK spin the team produced --
  http://rdieter.fedorapeople.org/torrents/
   without risking your production system)
 - Or you were using a slowly updating distribution such as RHEL or Centos.

Personally, I'm waiting a week or so (Laziness...)

it's stable enough in my book, works better than the stable 4.1. I've

Indeed, I've installed one of the pre-release torrents on one
workstation and have the same experience. However, it's hard to
blame them for being too careful after they got burned in previous
releases. There aren't many important blockers now except some
problems in bluetooth support in Solid.

Shachar seems to suggest that this might be used for a small claims
court case in which the spammer may be sued for up to 1000 NIS per
email.

Slightly off-topic: I got annoyed by political spam that was sent to my
work address (at least 4 messages, with a considerable size) Result:
blacklisted mailing list messages from their provider (and notified them
as well).

While it might be legal, I personally find this behaviour unacceptable.
