looking for a wireless pci card
After I've fought with bezeq and netvision for not getting the connection speed that I'm paying for I've found out that my cart uses the RT250 cheap and that this cheap is a known trouble in linux. So I'm looking for a new card recommendation, one that works good under linux. *Nitzan Brumer* Blog: N2b.org <http://n2b.org/> | Skype: nitzanzb My profiles: [image: Facebook] <http://www.facebook.com/nitzan.brumer> [image: Twitter] <http://twitter.com/nitzanb> [image: LinkedIn]<http://il.linkedin.com/in/nitzanb> [image: Flickr] <http://flickr.com/photos/n2b> [image: foursquare]<https://foursquare.com/nitzanb> ___ Linux-il mailing list Linux-il@cs.huji.ac.il http://mailman.cs.huji.ac.il/mailman/listinfo/linux-il
Re: Hebrew fonts on digital readers
Buying the kindle: 139 $ Shipping to Israel: 40$ (no, you can not change that, fedex is mandatory) Fedex Israel fees: 150 NIS (they charge the vat, handling, moving, storage or whatever) So, at the end buying a kindle costs around 760 Nis which is still 140NIS cheaper than the eVrit, but far from being double. *Nitzan Brumer* Blog: N2b.org <http://n2b.org/> | Skype: nitzanzb My profiles: [image: Facebook] <http://www.facebook.com/nitzan.brumer> [image: Twitter] <http://twitter.com/nitzanb> [image: LinkedIn]<http://il.linkedin.com/in/nitzanb> [image: Flickr] <http://flickr.com/photos/n2b> [image: foursquare]<https://foursquare.com/nitzanb> On Mon, Jul 4, 2011 at 11:02 AM, Stan Goodman wrote: > On 07/04/2011 04:31 AM, Steve G. wrote: > >> FWIW, this is not the same discussion as far as I am concerned. >> >> The previous discussion was about what reader is best for Hebrew book. >> This one is about how to read Hebrew on a Kindle 2. Problems with ubuntu and default file manager
What a headache! I've upgraded my Ubuntu 10.10 to 11.04 - and what a big mistake it was. It took some time and I've managed to handle most of the things but there is one problem that I cant manage to fix. On the first time I've opened chrome on the 11.04 I've tried to open a csv file and a popup appeared asking with what to open the file. Didn't think it over and I typed calc - thinking about libreoffice calc (the spreadsheet program) Now, any file I try to open from google chrome (but not only from chrome) I get a popup saying: " Failed to execute default File Manager. Failed to execute child process "calc" (No such file or directory). " The same thing happens if I right-click a folder and choose open with -> file manager. I've tried everything to override this krap but with no success. Its not under chrome settings I can't change it through settings->default applications Its not under ~/.local/share/applications And I just can't open the files unless I choose save as and open them from the file manager The problem is that not all the sites gives you a save as link and some just downloads directly to chrome cache. Help, Please. Nitzan Brumer Http://n2b.org ___ Linux-il mailing list Linux-il@cs.huji.ac.il http://mailman.cs.huji.ac.il/mailman/listinfo/linux-il
Ubuntu 10.10 and ZTE MF637 (3G modem)
I have the ZTE MF637 on Orange and I use it with my Laptop which runs Ubuntu 10.10. Lately I've upgraded from 9.04 to 10.10 (clean install actually) and though the modem do connect its take awful lot of time for the OS to mount it as a 3G modem. The hardware recognition is almost Immediate and lsusb gives : Bus 001 Device 004: ID 19d2:0031 ONDA Communication S.p.A. ZTE MF636 Also, the dongle has a micro sd slot and the micro sd card is spotted and mounted on insertion. But it takes up to 7-8 Minutes until Ubuntu's network manager shows the "Orange 3g" under Mobile Broadband connections. Any one got an idea as for why and how to fix that? on 9.04 it also took some time but it was about 20-40 seconds, while now I'm counting in minutes. Re: Connecting to the Internet via Bluetooth and Orange (Partner) Cellular Network
I'm using USB cable to do that, using 3g modem with BT drains a lot of power from the battery. But I'm guessing that you will have to do that: 1. hcitool scan - to find your cellular Mac address 2. sdptool browse Mac_Address - check the Dialup Networking for "channel number" 3. sudo gedit /etc/bluetooth/rfcomm.conf create a new BT object: rfcomm0 { bind yes; device MAC_ADDRESS; channel CHANNEL; comment "nokia ppp"; } well, thats the first steps, than you should try to connect to your nokia, I think you should select "pc Suite" in order to connect to the Internet. Hi to ya' all I have a Nokia N95 in Cellcom and I've just upgraded my plan to the surf as much as you want in 129 NIS a mounth. Connecting to the net with my phone is very simple in windows using the nokia PC Suite but becomes a terible headache. I've tried the sugestions in this pages: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=492851 http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=735018 There are few more, I cant find the links. anyhow, writing pon cellcom (my script name) makes a connection over BT to the phone but than the conection fails. I can't connect to the net. It might be something in my definitions, Maybe I'm not punching them right. Did anyone managed to connect a symbian nokia in cellcom? if so, I'd love some help. -- Nitzan Brumer Http://n2b.org
