Re: Debian upgrade to 2.6 and mouse problem
Thanks ! it worked - though the 2.612 compilation was not smooth ... make oldconfig did not do the work , it left the option of CONFIG_BROKEN=y , and so the make modules did not pass. i had to do make config to change that one , and then the kernel has compiled and finally the mouse is working !! Chava Hi, I experienced some mouse issues using Sarge (Debian stable, kernel 2.6.8). My problems were solved once I upgraded (compiled my own kernel) to kernel 2.6.12 . If you don't have the time to compile your own kernel, you can always use the Debian backports: http://backports.org . They have a 2.6.18 kernel package for etch + all archs in there. Note that the mousedev module is dropped in kernel>=2.6.12 so you should remove it from your /etc/modules if you upgrade. The modules for some reason are not loaded for you, hust add them to /etc/modules as Uri said. Another ugly trick is installing GPM which uses /dev/mice instead of testing for it and then failing because it does not exist yet (as Xorg does). -- diego, kde-il translation team - http://il.kde.org Please avoid sending me Word or PowerPoint attachments. Personally, I'm on Debian Etch (4.0, not yet released). A lot of hw related stuff was fixed there. Debian upgrade to 2.6 and mouse problem
Hi, I have installed Debian 3.1 and everything worked fine until I have decided to upgrade it to 2.6. The upgrade process was done through Debian kernel package (2.6.8).
