I always want to investigate the posibliity of replacing clipper 5 with perl+mysql+curse. I really suggest you look at perl+postgresql+ncurses PostgreSQL is, at least, a true SQL database. It has transaction support and is ACID compliant. MySQL is nothing more than a file system that uses SQL queries. Sure, it's fast, but it won't protect your data like a real SQL database will. I knew xBase (notably Clipper and Foxpro) from the bottom up. Have you ever done any curses programming? a bit. but using C.
