Re: please let mehave nt again. i have messesd up my computer loading linux

2002-02-06 Thread BOF

Hello,

Recovering from your problem is not difficult, but will take some work.

At this site are instructions for making an NT book disk, if you can get
to an NT system

http://is-it-true.org/nt/utips/utips3.shtml

At this site are copies of the NT boot/setup disks:

http://www.drd.dyndns.org/index2.html

These should allow you to get to the NT partition to rewrite the boot
sector with NT loader.

Once you fix your problem, try paragraph 4 of these instructions for
dual-booting NT and Linux, if you want to dual-boot using the NT boot
loader:

http://morse.colorado.edu/itplab/ipv6/dualboot.html

If you can't get to your NT installation, you might try installing GRUB
rather than LILO as your boot loader, as GRUB will recognize NT and
Linux. THis will tell you about GRUB as a boot loader.

http://www.mandrakeuser.org/docs/install/iboot2.html

The other alternative is to use a commercial boot loader product such as
Partition Magic's Boot Loader or System Commander.

Hope this helps, and good luck!

Dear Sir,

I have loaded linux Madrake which has become the boot
loader.

After loading from the Linix boot selector, for 'dos'
which is the ntpartion I get the 'blue

screen death' of Nt.

Please help.

I have tried different options including fdisk,
partioning from nt, partioning from nt, loading
ntfirst ,loading nt

first etc.

When I partioned from linux there is a problrm of
'ntldr not found. Insert other disk'.

I have formated my system around 30 times trying
different options but still it's not done.

I will remove linux altogether if need be.

I want nt by any means.

All my programs run on Nt.
this is a SOS call. Please help.

My life is messed up because of this. It's 15 days that
I have been working on this but with no sucess. And

I would like to use the [CNTRL]V sequence to add simple graphical thingees
like small boxes and circles to my text files. Is there a way to do this
with vi? I have checked out the ascii and iso-8859 pages, and I don't see
any graphical thinges in those ascii codes.

Re: What's the name of that program...THANKS

One last recommendation: Textpad.

This is a superb programmer's editor that has a feature that allows the
user to choose saving the file in a DOS or Unix format, among others.

It's shareware, and after the trial period (during which you get a
fully-functional version), the purchase price is about $27 USD for a
single user, with discounts for quantity.

Try
