Re: internal modem
Zohar: One other thing about Winmodems: If it is written anywhere- one the retail box, or in the advertisement, or in the description, as at an auction, like Ebay, "requires a Pentium 1xx processor" it is surely a Winmodem, as this statement indicates that the modem uses the motherboard processor to operate. Of course, especially in auctions, sellers have learned to NOT include this so as to sell to the unsuspecting buyer. Best to buy EXTERNAL. David. Enjoyed your work. Just promise that RSN is not as in those eons of Vs 2.4, oh, RSN. (Real Soon Now, for our ESL (english as a second) language friends, who may find our lingo and typing short-cuts a little mystifying) Back to Lurk & Learn Jer At 03:38 PM 1/5/02 -0500, David A. Question
Very obviously a newby, waiting for parts to finish his new Box. Am going to start with Mandrake 8.1. Am printing-out the manuals now. I've been lurking for some time, and am learning some of the linux lingo. But, SxS.Sox vs Sonics? Be a very strange game. Jer --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Re: Windows98: Command prompt?
Joel: On my 98se, either: Click on the "START" button (lower left corner) Click on "Programs" (near the top of the pop-up list) Click on "MS-DOS prompt" (on the new slide-out list) To get back to Windoze, type EXIT at the DOS prompt (and hit enter) Else Click on the *Start" button (same place) Click on the "Shut Down" (at the bottom of the pop-up list) When the "Shut Down" window appears, Click on the "Restart on MS-DOS mode" button Again, just type EXIT at the MS-DOS prompt to return to the usual (and that is the blue screen of death, too often.)
