[Linux-uvc-devel] fuji finepix support?

2007-01-17 Thread Ioannis Nousias

Hi

I have a fuji finepix e550 which is "recognised" by the uvc driver.
When I plug in the camera I see this messages in dmesg:

usb 2-1: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 5

usb 2-1: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice

uvcvideo: Found UVC 1.00 device USB Web Camera (04cb:0172)

and a device node is created:

/dev/video0

(and a symlink /dev/video to it)

unfortunately it does work. It fails with the following error
message:

This is definitely a bug in the UVC driver. It should not crash.

Could you please set the trace parameter to 127 ?

echo 127 > /sys/modules/uvcvideo/parameters/trace

Then try to plug your camera and let the kernel crash :-) I'll need the dmesg
output (you can leave out the syslog output) with all the uvcvideo messages
and the crash dump.

You are used V4L1 app ?

Seems true

AFAIK v4l_compat layer was broken.

Try use v4l2 app in this case e.g. luvcview or other.

Hi Ioannis.

Thanks for the trace. Could you please apply the following patch and send me
the kernel log ? Please send me your compiled uvcvideo.ko module as well.

Thanks.

Hi Ioannis,

could you please send me the output of 'lsusb -v' as well ? You will need
usbutils 0.72 or newer (the CVS version should do as well).

Thanks

Hi, Michel. Yes I need picture and video. I would greatly appreciate it
if you would include it.

Thanks,

[Linux-uvc-devel] [SVN] New devices supported

2007-01-17 Thread Laurent Pinchart
Hi everybody.

I committed a few patches today. This in itself is not big news, but as the
driver now supports two new devices I though I should keep you informed.

So, as of today, Creative Live! Optia and Fuji FinePix E550 users should be
able to use their device with the Linux UVC driver. Note that Ekiga seems to
crash with the Fuji FinePix E550, but that's not the driver's fault, is
it ? :-)

I'd like to thank Gene Imes for sending me a Bodelin ProScope HR (it was very
helpful to implement bulk transfer support), Creative Labs for sending me an
Optia webcam, and Ioannis Nousias for letting me crash his kernel many times
until the remaining bugs were sorted out.

Cheers,

Laurent Pinchart

Hi Laurent,

It's a great news to have more devices supported! BTW, does Creative Live!
Optia exhibit similar USB control request problems as Logitech cameras?
