[WSG] flash activation border??? is it a XP problem
Hello guys, I have seen something weird lately in flash productions where i have a activation border in the flash published in the website. have anyone of you seen it otherwise I am getting it at this website http://www.rosoli.gr I guess it is a XP problem, it does not appear in MAC tiger... WHat am i suppose to do because i fool the visitors to click in the menu and it will need 2 clicks to get inside. one to deactivate the border in flash and one to get to the menu to navigate where it is suppose to.. It happened a few weeks ago, maybe a update from Mr Gates..!!! Re: [WSG] flash activation border??? is it a XP problem
A colleague showed me yesterday on another website. From what I understand the activation border acts like the Active X control block. A part of Microsoft's latest security update. I noticed one flash website I visited yesterday had no activation border so I assume there is a way to bypass. Anyone know for sure? Did I say fix? Apologies, I meant workaround / hack. Well, Ceri, I have to say I prefer this way of unobtrusive including of objects with proper fallbacks as nowadays' browsers are pretty much unable to handle it with the right resources. Re: [WSG] flash activation border??? is it a XP problem
Actually, this is the best example I've seen to date: http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flash/articles/swfobject.html I have to say that I much prefer this method to using the object & embed tags. It's cleaner, it validates and it checks the user's version of the flash player. It also gives you much better control of what the user sees if they don't have the correct version (I'm actually wrapping the flash container div around an enitire interface, so if a user has flash player 8 they'll see the flash site. If not, they'll see the HTML site). On 5/18/06, Jan Brasna <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > Did I say fix? Apologies, I meant workaround / hack. RE: [WSG] flash activation border??? is it a XP problem
EOLAS is company based arising out of UCLA that claim that Microsoft (and us) are violating one of their patents by embedding active content in a web page. In response, Microsoft have changed the Internet Explorer browser to behave significantly differently. Want to see it in action... Download a BETA version of IE7, or apply recent updates to IE6 for XP, and attempt to view embedded content such as Flash or Quicktime. Help at: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/912945 http://www.eolas.com http://blog.deconcept.com/swfobject/ Our developers have started using Javascript to embed flash (a very nasty work around) as well as using the noscript tag to embed the Flash (just in case someone happens to want to view the Flash but doesn't have Javascript enabled). Our justification... The interruption to the users experience, having to click on each flash movie before they can interact with the flash, far outweighs the cons of the workaround. -Original Message- From: listdad@webstandardsgroup.org [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Michael Persson Sent: Thursday, 18 May 2006 9:52 PM To: wsg@webstandardsgroup.org Subject: [WSG] flash activation border??? is it a XP problem Hello guys, I have seen something weird lately in flash productions where i have a activation border in the flash published in the website. have anyone of you seen it otherwise I am getting it at this website http://www.rosoli.gr I guess it is a XP problem, it does not appear in MAC tiger...
