Re: [FLEAA] Battery Beach Burnout (re-send)
Jeremiah where are you located? There are SCCA auto clubs that autocross all over Fl. This one is out side of Ft Myers. http://www.gulfcoastautocrossers.com/ On youtube there are all sorts of vids of riding in the car at autocrosss I autocrossed my vw truck at the Power of DC this last summer. The Only thing with a faster time was a electric go cart. Oh, and Dave Erb was driving when we got the good times. Shawn Thanks for clarifying. But what exactly is an autocross? Is it basically like a road race on a very small circuit? Similar to a go cart track set up in a parking lot or something? Historically, we have always held a drag race and autocross at the BBB. The challenge with the logistics for us, is coordinating the different venues (drag strip and autocross location) that provide us a place to hold the event and still be easily accessible to the public to come and spectate. The event is half for us to have fun, but more importantly, raise public awareness and get them to see what the EV's are all about. The venue challenge was a little tough this year, so the planning team decided to drop the drag race at the event this year and replace it with an acceleration test at the same venue. We will have a 100ft section setup for doing the acceleration tests. That said, I think Matt Graham is working to have an informal meet at the Palm Beach International Raceway (formerly Moroso) for anyone who wants to drag race Friday night. However, the drag race will not e part of the actual BBB this year. Hope that helps clarify. Shawn Waggoner Apparently I CC'd wrong when I tried to send this out before, sorry if it is a re-post fo anyone. Does anyone have any info about the battery beach burnout event next year? I saw the webpage at: http://floridaeaa.org/modules/content/index.php?id=9 But I don't see any info detailing the different events such as format and rules. I would like to attend and compete in this event this year, but would like to know what the different events are and what the rules are. I had thought that this was a drag racing event based on the 'talk of the town' info I had gotten over the last year. But looking at the schedule, it looks like it is more of an autocross. I would think that those two events would have two pretty different designs for ultimate performance. I would like to know what type of design to bring. ___ Florida EAA mailing list listserv@floridaeaa.org http://www.floridaeaa.org ___ Florida EAA mailing list listserv@floridaeaa.org http://www.floridaeaa.org ___ Florida EAA mailing list listserv@floridaeaa.org http://www.floridaeaa.org ___ Florida EAA mailing list listserv@floridaeaa.org http://www.floridaeaa.org ___ Florida EAA mailing list listserv@floridaeaa.org http://www.floridaeaa.org ___ Florida EAA mailing list listserv@floridaeaa.org http://www.floridaeaa.org

Re: [FLEAA] Battery Beach Burnout (re-send)
I live in the Tampa bay area. Right now I am working on a few different motorcycle projects. I was hoping to optimize one for an autocross for the BBB. It seemed like there was going to be a motorcycle/scooter class. There is a drag race track near my house, I was thinking of taking one of the builds over there to run some tests.
