If I can get them to build cleanly with GNU, for example, then I may be able to create a VS 2010 project and post it. I'm getting errors like: 1C:\Users\darndt\Projects\log4cxx\apache-log4cxx-0.10.0\src\main\include\log4cxx/spi/loggingevent.h(155): error C2252: an explicit instantiation of a template can only occur at namespace scope These are actual errors that need to be fixed in the code by moving the instatiations out of the class definition to namespace scope. Minimal code changes can be achieved by replacing those with typedef declarations. We have MSBuild files for log4cxx that we can share if you would like to try them. We use them to build log4cxx with Visual Studio 10. -- Pedro Lamarão Rosa e Silva Prodist Technologies http://www.prodist.com.br/ Securing Transaction Systems Tel.: (21) 4062-7188 signature.asc Description: OpenPGP digital signature
Re: log4cxx - reaching out for interested developers

One suggestion was to enable a git mirror for log4cxx and make it easier for others to contribute. Ralph (from log4j 2 mainly) mentioned he could look at the patches, because he has the skills which i lack. On the other hand, I might be able to release. Then the community could contribute / fork via GitHub too, which lightens the burden. So far not confirmed, but this is another option. We were planning on a fork for our own purposes; this seems a good opportunity for us to participate. I will make a fork from trunk on GitHub today. Anyone wants in, we can deal with the patches, tarball releases and things like that. -- https://github.com/pedrolamarao/log4cxx -- Pedro Lamarão Rosa e Silva Prodist Technologies http://www.prodist.com.br/ Securing Transaction Systems Tel.: (21) 4062-7188 signature.asc Description: OpenPGP digital signature

Otherwise, incorporating any changes into an Apache-blessed tree at a later date becomes difficult. If someone could instruct me on this process, I could submit a contribution agreement ASAP, and then keep this in mind while managing the fork. I suspect a small community would not give me much trouble in this regard. -- Pedro Lamarão Rosa e Silva Prodist Technologies http://www.prodist.com.br/ Securing Transaction Systems Tel.: (21) 4062-7188 signature.asc Description: OpenPGP digital signature
