Re: [Ltsp-discuss] ltsp 5 ignoring lts.conf
Hi, I had the same problem: whatever I wrote in lts.conf, it was ignored by the client. I use LTSP5 on Ubuntu 8.04 Server. The problem was: the client asked for lts.conf from wrong directory. Try to sniff (wireshark, etc.) the network to get sure, if it is not your problem too. But on Ubuntu 7.10 and later (maybe earlier, too, I can't remember) it no longer goes there. On my Ubuntu 8.04 machine it's in /var/lib/tftpboot/ltsp/i386. This was done so that changes to lts.conf would not require running ltsp-update-image afterwards. -Rob The information transmitted is intended only for the person or entity to which it is addressed and may contain confidential and/or privileged material. (LTSP > 5/UBUNTU HARDY) > Thanks > Tom I had the same thing happen to me when I recently setup a 40 client system. It took me two days to find the problem. I had copied my lts.conf file from a test system to the production system. The problem in one word. Permissions. Check the permissions of the file, it should be 0644. A quick chmod 0644 lts.conf fixed the problem. Tom Knowles kirjoitti: > It appears that the lts.conf file is being > ignored and pure defaults used. I got huge lts.conf at school, because I use auto login for 113 thin clients. I tested it first at home and it worked, too. At home it has just few lines, because I have only one test client. [00:20:ED:BC:13:20] LDM_AUTOLOGIN=True LDM_USERNAME=ltsp001 LDM_PASSWORD=edubuntu For Eee as thin client with native resolution (800x480) I got these lines. [00:22:15:15:4B:4C] X_CONF = /etc/X11/asus-eee-xorg.conf Are you using MAC address? Here is best help: http://doc.ubuntu.com/edubuntu/edubuntu/handbook/C/customizing-thin-client.html Best Regards Asmo Koskinen. - This SF.Net email is sponsored by the Moblin Your Move Developer's challenge Build the coolest Linux based applications with Moblin SDK & win great prizes Grand prize is a trip for two to an Open Source event anywhere in the world http://moblin-contest.org/redirect.php?banner_id=100&url=/ _ Ltsp-discuss mailing list.
