Gary, and All:

The above may only be an indication of the different way I use my
Lubuntu systems. My experience does differ from the above.

The way I use them, 1 gigabyte of RAM (on 32-bit architecture systems)
has always been plenty, and I don't feel 'cramped' in limited memory at
all.

With 512 megabytes of RAM (again, on 32-bit architecture), I do have to
limit some of the things I would otherwise do, so I am feeling 'a little
cramped' in that limited memory space.

With 384 megabytes of RAM (32-bit architecture), I really have to limit
what I do, and on 256 megabytes of RAM, I can barely get by, and can't
use some things I really like to use.

On all of my systems, I do MIDI music, and run Java applications.

I recently installed Lubuntu 13.10 on a 256 megabyte RAM system, and it
seemed to be okay for reasonable use. I didn't do a lot of testing on
it, though.

I have declared my minimum system requirements (for my application) to
be 512 megabytes RAM, and 800 megahertz processor speed (on 32-bit
architecture).

I regularly load 32-bit architecture systems into 64-bit architecture
machines, and they run fine. But you can't in some such cases, access
all of the RAM, though you don't need to, because 32-bit architecture
programs need less memory. I can explain why they need less memory, if
anyone is interested.

I do run 64-bit architecture Ubuntu systems on my more-capable 64-bit
machines, as I have to test in those environments as well.

Garyk:

Do you also have the "pavucontrol" package (PulseAudio Volume Control)
installed as well? It doesn't come by-default with PulseAudio,
because each other Ubuntu variant (except Lubuntu) has its own utility
for doing the same thing.

You probably already thought of that, given the things you said you
tried, but I'm just making sure the more obvious things are taken care
of.

That being said, what I am saying is just from my experience of
handling multiple sound cards. I have never yet used BlueTooth.

Re: can not connect bluetooth earphone

2013-12-16 Thread Israel
If it works in Ubuntu it will work in Lubuntu, it seem one of two things
is happening.
1. you have some things installed in Unity, that you don't in your
Lubuntu install (assuming they are on different machines/partitions)
2. it is configured differently in the Lubuntu session, or there is
something circumventing the current setup (assuming they are different
sessions)

So, first things first, we need to know a bit more about your current setup.
What version of Lubuntu are you currently using?
Do you have Ubuntu and Lubuntu installed on the same machine? Are they
in different partitions (do you choose from the boot-up GRUB menu to
choose between Lubuntu and Ubuntu)?

So... do you have bluez installed (I assume you do)? If so you might
check to make sure you have installed some of the other packages as
well. You may need the gnome support for bluetooth installed to get it
to work, as well...

So give us a bit more info on your current setup, and that will help us
to help you figure out your issue.
I don't have bluetooth devices, so I can't test it myself, though
someone else might have encountered this specific issue before.
