Hofmeister FH 4552, transcirption in tenorclef for a'-lute. Learn to decipher German tablature, if only to transcribe it yourself. There's a wealth of beautiful music and too many modern editions one cannot trust. David - Original Message - From: Alfonso Marin [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: lutelist Net lute@cs.dartmouth.edu Sent: Sunday, April 22, 2007 10:36 PM Subject: [LUTE] Schlick 1512 Dear all, I have a facsimile of the Schlick 1512 book and since I can not read german tablature, I wonder if any of you knows of an edition of the songs in italian or french tablature. Do any of you have performed these lute songs? Are they interesting? thanks for your help, greetings, Alfonso To get on or off this list see list information at http://www.cs.dartmouth.edu/~wbc/lute-admin/index.html

Apart from the musical differences Bonavita's playing position certainly looks healthier. Nomen est omen :-) Regards, Stephan Am 21 Apr 2007 um 15:37 hat Mathias Rösel geschrieben: [EMAIL PROTECTED] schrieb: I thought both Lislevand's and Bonavitas' performances were nice. Notwithstanding everybody's personal preferences, I especially disliked Lislevand's stopping of basses so as to stress the notes. Anyway, his playing is at times very guitaristic, in this video (okay, one might want to discuss Bonavita's strumming, also). What I enjoyed in Bonavita's interpretation were the notes inegales, his tastefully ornamenting almost every note and his raising of passion in the last sections. Had he chosen gut bass strings and additionally put his right hand closer to the bridge, I wouldn't hesitate to declare him the winner :) -- Mathias --- Mathias Rösel [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Davide Bioccoli [EMAIL PROTECTED] schrieb: Hi to all... [LUTE] O'Dette in Basel
I just returned from a visit to Switzerland where I saw POD playing a Renaissance concert in Basel. First time he has been back in 31 years. Quite the who's who of the Swiss lute world in attendance (including Dombois). He played mostly Terzi and Molinaro. Technically flawless, other than the tuning of one course that misbehaved in the hot weather. The Piccinnini Passacaglia was a fantastic encore. The concert was taped by Swiss radio and I heard mention that it will be broadcast on May 5th. Perhaps closer to the date we can see whether it will be available as a stream on the web. Otherwise, maybe one of our Swiss colleagues could tape it off the radio (please)? DS To get on or off this list see list information at http://www.cs.dartmouth.edu/~wbc/lute-admin/index.html

[LUTE] Re: O'Dette in Basel
If I should be at home at broadcast time I could tape it. If you should have further details - they would be welcome. BTW: It was very nice to meet again, although the basel lute connection. I haven't seen Eugen Dombois, but Crawford Young, Bob barto, Hoppy Smith, Peter Croton, Anthony Bailes and some others (hope i didn't forget anyone). It really was a lute fest on it's own: I have seldom seen a lute player playing very close to flawless and especially a technically demanding program with so much lightness. alone to play Piccini's Passacaglia as an encore - not the type of a typical encore. And the second encore also was unusual. ... J.N.David: the menuet from the lute suite. Sounds fine played on a lute Best wishes Thomas To get on or off this list see list information at http://www.cs.dartmouth.edu/~wbc/lute-admin/index.html

In the original printing it is quite clearly Grisse his delight. the long s used is quite distinguishable from the f. Is there a person with that name known? Not that I know of. Perhaps it could be derived from grieve? His 2003 'la belle homicide' CD on 11-course lute is equally impressive. Alexander To get on or off this list see list information at http://www.cs.dartmouth.edu/~wbc/lute-admin/index.html
[LUTE] Re: ij
When one writes a bank check, one states the amount in two ways, spelling it out as well as numerically, this is to prevent subsequent alteration. The use of j in roman numerals serves a similar purpose, the last i of several is always written j in a formal record. -- Dana Emery To get on or off this list see list information at http://www.cs.dartmouth.edu/~wbc/lute-admin/index.html
[LUTE] Western LSA Seminar
The brochure from Early Music Vancouver has apparently created some confusion about qualifications for attending the LSA in Vancouver. I think some restrictions might apply to the Baroque instrumental program, but they certainly do not apply to the LSA seminar. To clarify, there are *no* qualifications for attending the LSA seminar apart from an interest in the lute. Lutenists at any level of skill are welcome to attend the seminar, and beginners are especially encouraged to do so. The program should have something to offer pretty much anyone interested in the lute. Please contact me if you have any questions.
