How about Tobias Hume:

"My Mistress Hath a Pretty Thinge"
"Tickle Me Quickly"

Purcell:

"O Let Me Weep"
"I Attempt From Love's Sickness to Fly"
"Ah, How Sweet It Is To Love"

Josquin:

"Adieu Mes Amours"

Passareau:

"Il Est Bel Et Bon"?

[LUTE] Re: lute songs or pieces for wedding occasion

2009-06-18 Thread David van Ooijen
I always end up playing Amarilli by Caccini on weddings. And some Ave
Maria (the fake Caccini, or Bach/Gounod, or Schubert), if the wedding
is catholic and they need a moment at the Maria altar in church.

For quiet moments like collection or procession I play solo Vallet,
like variations on Lofzang Maria or the Pater Noster.

[LUTE] Vivaldi RV 588

2009-06-18 Thread David van Ooijen
I'm to play in this party piece in two weeks. Fun! :-) It has two part
for tiorba, as well as mandolines and what-not in pairs. Did anybody
on the list ever play these tiorba parts? It could be done on theorbo
in a, but then preferably with second string in the high octave, as it
goes to high b'. It also needs low C. So I suppose some sort of
mandora/callichon was intended, but I'm sorely tempted to use an
archlute. It's fast as well ...

Korg and Seiko (STM-20) have contact mics. Shouldn't be a problem

[LUTE] Another Tuning Applet for iPhone and iPod Touch & Pick-Up/Mic Adapter

2009-06-18 Thread WILLIAM F EISELE JR
   Folks,
Here's another tuning application for the iPhone and iPod Touch from
   Peterson Strobe Tuners, the iStrobeSoft:
   http://www.petersontuners.com/index.cfm?category=150&page=1. I haven't
tried it so I can't vouch for its performance, but I have used their
V-SAM virtual strobe tuner and I really like it. What the Cleartune
has that the iStrobeSoft does not have are preset temperaments.
Also, Peterson offers a special jack adapter for 1/4" plugs for the
iPhone and iPod Touch that should work for the Cleartune applet:
   http://www.petersontuners.com/index.cfm?category=135&action=itemView&it
emID=39. They also offer a microphone for the iPod Touch:
   http://www.petersontuners.com/index.cfm?category=135&action=itemView&it
   emID=41.
   Hope this helps!
