[LUTE] Django on Mac
Can someone advise me on what the simplest way to run Django on my Mac is? This website gives too many options. http://www.macping.com/top-10-applications-to-successfully-run-windows-program-on-mac/ I would prefer to hear from folks who have successfully used it on a Mac. [LUTE] Online Tuner
It's been a while since I wrote here, been about 6 months since I played my lutes. Now that I have time again and wife finished her degree, I can go back and play. But I found out that my tuner is out of juice and to buy new battery might take me some time (well, a week) So, I need online tuner, a good one, one that can tune my lute to 415 (or at least can detect sounds) Please help me. [LUTE] Re: lutes for sale!
I've been using VMware fusion for years on my macs and it works great. Django functions normally (you just need key mapping for the missing enter key) Danny On Sep 8, 2013, at 7:21 AM, Martin Shepherd mar...@luteshop.co.uk wrote: Hi All, Two more lutes for sale on my page: www.luteshop.co.uk/forsale Soundfiles coming soon Best wishes, Martin To get on or off this list see list information at http://www.cs.dartmouth.edu/~wbc/lute-admin/index.html

Sorry!!! Obviously meant as a response to Ed's Django question, not a way to simulate one of Martin's fine instruments on a mac On Sep 8, 2013, at 7:24 AM, Daniel Shoskes kidneykut...@gmail.com wrote: I've been using VMware fusion for years on my macs and it works great. I'd buy a new Mac or a new software program in a heartbeat if it came with a new Martin Shepherd lute. On 9/8/2013 4:29 AM, Daniel Shoskes wrote: Sorry!!! [LUTE] Re: Online Tuner
I have the Strobe Tuner from Katsura Shareware on my Macs (OS 10.3 onward). $15 http://www.katsurashareware.com/strobe/strobe.html The Cleartune app for iOS (and Android) is cheaper and more portable. Just remember to turn it off after you tune. Both can be transposed to the Do of your preferences. The Cleartune app can also build your scale to any sampled tone, too. From what I've seen locally, the Cleartune seems to be the tuner of preference these days. [LUTE] Re: Online Tuner
About tuning in meantone: I've never been certain about what to call the home note on a G Lute. If tuning to a note other than A, does the lute need to be considered as a transposing instrument? I suppose it might not matter for solo playing (which is all I do), but what about ensemble playing?
