sounds good or okay on 7c lute?

Indeed, but the most elegant way to do this would be for the mailing list to 
set proper reply-to header.
IMHO in our times a (subscription only) mailing list should even send out the 
OP's mail address in the
 from header thus protecting the poster's privacy.
