[LUTE] Re: Belle, qui tiens ma vie
I have just realised that the link to Anton's intavolation of Cabezon's "Diferencias sobre La Dama Le Demanda" in the Lute list archive from 2012-01-25 is dead, but fortunately Anton has also uploaded it to IMSLP, as he so often does with his prolific work: https://imslp.org/wiki/Diferencias_sobre_'La_Dama_Le_Demanda'_(Cabez%C3%B3n%2C_Antonio_de) And of course Anton's last name is spelled Höger, I beg pardon for the typo in my previous email. That's indeed interesting. I just checked the Hirsch version which leaves some room for interpretation it seems (no bar lines). But now I realize that Hassler's "Jungfrau Dein schöne Gstalt" is based on the same model. This could even lead to some confusion when the songs are modified to become a dance. Don't know whether this helps but there is a short coranta for Pandora based on 'Belle qui tiens ma vie ' in Thomas Morley's First book of consort lessons published in 1599. You would need to adapt to the tuning of the lute or adopt scordatura. Sure Leonard, I'd love to see your arrangement. I'm working on one of my own, and am interested to know if there are contemporary versions out there. Thanks Damian Damian-- I can send you an abctab2ps or pdf file of an arrangement I made from the four-part piece in Orchesographie, but it is for lute (chordal) plus a melody instrument (or voice) on top line.
