Rather than for criticism, I reckon the list should be used to build something together, trying to remember lutenists are not so many all over the world and they shouldn't fight each other, to see how many casualties they can leave on the battleground. Arto provided some work and everybody is invited to do the same. Listening is not mandatory, no Big Brother watching you. A better performance, played by the person involved, will tell more than thousands mails. As I was mentionned in a previous post, I want to say that I share the same idea as Arto, and many others (Danny, Simone, Trond etc...), just share the music I love and try to play (imperfectly, it is obvious about me) and I don't want to give any lessons to anyone or be an example. There are many professionnal players far better than I could ever be, I would like to see more of their performances also (as the beautiful videos by Barto, North, and some too rare by McFarlane, Hoppy and O'Dette) but I encourage also amateurs to play and post just to make know widely this beautiful instrument family of the lute. True, rudo doesn't exist in Italian, but rude does (describing one characterized by rudezza) and means rozzo, grossolano, detto di persona, according to Il Nuovo Zingarelli. Igor, you don't know much about the lute, apparently, do you? Why don't you resist the temptation to insult people? As for the baroque lute, Valéry's lute playing sounds extremely nice, indeed, yet did you notice his RH position? It is far from being a standard IMHO. Regarding the arciliuto video, Danny's own comment, when he advertized it on the list, was that he was only experimenting with his new instrument. I do wonder how you come to recommend it as a standard. I cannot help being suspicious that are fond of attacking people just for the sake of attack, bt without being interested in serious discussions. Mathias igor . And our dogs certainly are not deaf considering their eager when somebody goes to eat something. So could you perhaps elaborate your comment a bit more?
