Any thoughts

Please send the file config.log.

IMO, it’s better to discuss this on the developers list.
So I’ve CCed lyx-devel.

AFAIK there is a LyX package for Fedora. Perhaps you can use it instead.

Simple to do this in Local Layout, too.

Style Frame
KeepEmpty 0

By the way, did you know that "Beamer" is the German word for
"projector"? Germans have so many funny words that sound English but
are not. Another is "Handy" which is the word for "mobile phone".

Hi racoon,
Sorry to have to correct you ;-)
'Beamer' is no German word at all (by origin) as the pronunciation
proofs, and therefore cannot be the German word for 'projector'.
This is not withstanding the fact that Germans do use the English word
'beamer' in the same way as they nowadays use so many other English
words, e.g. the word 'cool'. This is trendy, nothing else.

The German word for 'projector' is 'Projektor'.
PS: and the words "Kindergarten"and "Poltergeist" are German and both
are used in the English speaking world as well.
And by the way, did you know that 60 - 70% of English words derive from
Latin (as does the word 'projector')?

Note: we are about to misusing the list >:o

Sorry and Cheers!
Michael

Or, as the keepemty is there "for ages" (and similar in other
presentation/slides document classes), to keep it and people who like it
differently can overwrite this in their LyXdir.

Allow application of insets to all selected table cells

2016-11-10 Thread racoon
If several table cells are selected but *not* the whole table, insets
cannot be inserted. I suggest that instead they can be inserted and the
obvious mode of insertion seems to be to apply the inset for each table
cell individually.

For multiple paragraphs, the environmental counterparts (onlyenv, altenv

prupose of text style insets is really small inline stuff.

I see.

Here is a suggestion concerning the beamer modules Frame and Block
styles.

I worked a bit with the beamer module lately. One thing that annoyed
me a bit was the KeepEmpty setting for both Frame and Block.

I was wondering why it is set for those two Styles and maybe one
could do without. Both styles insert automatically an argument which
will make sure that the style is kept anyway even if no title is
entered.

To keep layouts empty is rather uncommon elsewhere in LyX. So people
might be used to it in their workflow. Maybe the default should be
without keep empty and then people who like it differently can patch the
module accordingly?

Yes, please.

Done in master at 6dfbab31. Richard, this is candidate for branch too,
since it leads to crashes.

In principle, it seems that we could have multipar command layouts that
act like environment layouts. It is conceptually easy, but adapting our
code to this new possibility would probably be a nightmare.

I am not sure wy this has not been done from the start (like in 1995),
but it was a mistake IMO.

Okay, I realized one problem with the with the MultiPar styles (and
probably insets). If one selects a special layout, like itemize, the
automatically inserted argument is inserted *after* the environment
which leads to it being an "Overlay Specification" for the item rather
than an "Action" argument for the Only, Alternative, etc. Text Style.

Not sure how to handle this.
