RH6.1 TeX breaks lyx?

I just updated my base apckages to Redhat 6.1 packages. And now, my lyx is

Hmm, you were right. rpm -V showed a huge list of missing files. I've
removed the tetex* packages, and installed them again, that seems to have
solved the missing files problem. I will try tonight after work if this
has solved my problems (X via 64k leased line is not too much fun).

I never had any path like that (also not TEXINPUTS or whatever it is
called).

This has nicely solved the problem, my LyX runs perfectly just like
before. Since I totally fail to see why a rpm --upgrade ought to break the
setup, I have sent this to support at redhat, as a bug in RH 6.1.

Thanks for your help, I really appreciate it. A life without LyX -

Bug with table dialog in 1.0.4

1999-10-18 Thread Nils Jeppe

By the way, there's a bug in the 1.0.4 LyX. It goes like so: Right-Click
on a tabe to bring up the table dialog. Click on "destroy table". Or is it
delete? Anyway, that button, yes. Click it again to confirm. The table
will be removed, but the dialog window for the table will remain, with a
"flickering" 'Width'-Field. it will prevent any action in LyX and
basically freeze up LyX. LyX needs to be kill'ed.

I dunno if this is a known bug (it seems to be too obvious not to be
noticed) but I figure, it can't hurt to send it in. (You won't die because
of the bandwidth this mail will eat up. Right? ;)

You're right, it is 0.89 - I am a little surprised, because I was very
certain that when I first compiled LyX, I grabbed whatever XForms library
it said to get in the LyX Installation docs. Did this change some time,
like was the recommendation "downgraded", or did I indeed grab the wrong
tarball?

Lyx aborted... (maybe a bug, but minor anyway)

1999-10-24 Thread Nils Jeppe

Hello People,

I have managed to grab the cvs 1.1.1 tree - Password "cvs" worked, don't
ask me, why it didn't work a week ago. I didn't do anything differently.

It seems to run pretty well so far - it compiled clenly, and the only
Problem I found is the following. I am sorry it's not a very detailed
description, I seem to have caused it without knowing what I did.

I accidentally hit a keycombination consisting of shift, ctrl, and win95
keys on the left side fo the keyboard, as well as x, y, and/or the
key that has <, > and | on it. Lyx then closed - all I got on the console
I started it from is:

[1]+  Aborted /usr/software/lyxcvs/lyx-devel/src/lyx

Is there a key combination there somewhere that should close LyX? I tried
to reproduce the event, but I seem to be unable to do so...

Not a big deal it seems, but I wonder.

Best wishes,
Nils

While I'd agree that more export as.. and view.. options would be cool,
isn't it possible to set the commands lyx uses for view ps and view
dvi? if so, you could just roll your own pdf view options. ;)

Thanks for the info.. I guess I'll have to email the latex2html
maintainers about the issue.

Quote Conversion?

2000-03-26 Thread Nils Jeppe

Hi Folks,

If I decide to change the quote style of a document, is this supposed to
have an effect, ie. seek out and change the quotes in the document, or
does it merely mean "use this new style from now on" ?

The later seems to be the case; however, is there any way to convert
quotes of a document from style A to style B?

Errors with lyx 1.1.5fix2?

2001-02-07 Thread Nils Jeppe

Hi,

I am trying to export/preview a lyx document.

I get during the latex run the following error message:

"LaTeX Error: Missing \begin{document}.
\begin{document}

Uhm, a little help please? ;-(

Is this a lyx problem or a packaging problem? (I use debian unstable).

Best wishes,
Nils

ps - I am not currently subscribed to the list.

Is this a bug, or...?

1999-08-04 Thread Nils Jeppe

Well, it doesn't compile.

Is it a bug or am I using some software that's too new for LyX?

g++ -c -g -O2 -I. -I. -I../images   -I/usr/X11R6/include
DepTable.C
g++ -c -g -O2 -I. -I. -I../images   -I/usr/X11R6/include
lyxserver.C
g++ -c -g -O2 -I. -I. -I../images   -I/usr/X11R6/include
LaTeXLog.C
LaTeXLog.C: In function `void ShowLatexLog()':
LaTeXLog.C:31: `FALSE' undeclared (first use this function)
LaTeXLog.C:31: (Each undeclared identifier is reported only once
LaTeXLog.C:31: for each function it appears in.)
LaTeXLog.C:45: `TRUE' undeclared (first use this function)
make[1]: *** [LaTeXLog.o] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/software/lyx-1.0.4pre4/src'
make: *** [all] Error 1

This happens both in LyX 1.0.3 and 1.0.4pre4.

I use Xforms 89 and

[root@wasteland lyx-1.0.3]# gcc --version
egcs-2.91.66

Now, I am not a programmer (my C is more than rusty) but it kinda looks
like a weird bug to me, and not GUI related, so I dunno if my slightly
newer XFroms is to blame...

Any help would be appreciated. :)

Best wishes,
Nils

Yes, someone should port LyX to the PalmPilot ;-)
