The reason is that \text is used, which does not change par
directionality (only text directionality).

So in this case the language environment needed to be used.

Works fine here (TL18) as well.

"Hand-Compiling" fails the first time after changing "use non-TeX fonts" to
"true" but works the second time (when the .aux file is updated).

OTOH, the tests pass here with TL18 (without the advertised fix).
Strange.

Is the output correct without dvips option:

* with TeX fonts,
* with non-TeX fonts?

If yes, we just remove the dvips option,
if no we should set "PDF (ps2pdf)" as output format.

However, it seems to work in TL18 (the tests pass here).

OTOH, "hand compiling" with non-TeX fonts works only for XeTeX, with LuaTeX,
I get a pop-up window telling me: "The external program lualatex finiished
with an error. It is recommended you fix the cause of the external program's
error (check the logs)." (both with TeX fonts and non-TeX fonts).
"Document>LaTeX Log" is still grey.

When opening LyX from an X-terminal, the output there is

  Unable to read environment locale: exit now.
  support/Systemcall.cpp (291): Systemcall: 'lualatex "Braille.tex"' finished

This explains why it works fine here (I have LM otf fonts installed
system-wide.)

Done (using DejaVu Sans).

Did you also test the output?

With LyX Version 2.4.0dev (Monday, 18 November 2019) and
TL18, the document compiles fine but the table columns are inverted and the
content of the bottom right cell is inverted wordwise.

Thanks Jürgen, this test passes now here too.

Also your provided patch of amsart.cls works on the 3 other tests.

This seems to be an old bug (rather in amsart than polyglossia):
https://tug.org/pipermail/xetex/2008-December/011579.html

In this thread, the amsclass maintainer promised (in 2008) to fix it in
the next release of amsart. This apparently didn't happen. (The
advertised fix still works, i.e.

This is because the dvips option is used. Removing it makes the
document compile with XeTeX and LuaTeX.

> export/examples/fr/Modules/Braille_dvi3_systemF
> export/examples/fr/Modules/Braille_pdf4_systemF
> export/examples/fr/Modules/Braille_pdf5_systemF

The document has a preamble definition which switches to the
English language. With babel, English is loaded via the english class
option. This does not work with polyglossia.

A fix is to remove this class option and add instead at the beginning
of the document a % in ERT and then in English "trick to load
English".

Or alternatively in preamble (while keeping the class option):

\usepackage{etoolbox}
\AtEndPreamble{%
  \@ifpackageloaded{polyglossia}{\setotherlanguage{english}}{}
}

Both is ugly, but the example file has some more rather ugly tricks.

> export/examples/fr/Presentations/Foils_pdf4_systemF
> export/examples/fr/Presentations/Foils_pdf5_systemF

See above.

> export/examples/ko/cjk-ko-doc_pdf4_systemF

The preamble tries to load Latin Modern Roman when fontspec is used.
This does not work with XeTeX, as XeTeX (as opposed to LuaTeX) does not
find fonts in the texmf tree (only fonts installed in the OS). Using
another font which we can assume is widely installed on OSes will fix
it.

What is the error here?

With TL18 (Debian/Buster's "texlive 2018.20190227"), these test pass fine
(except Foils, because I do no have the required LaTeX package).

Instead, I get failures with

The following tests FAILED:
5761 - export/examples/sr/Modules/Braille_dvi3_systemF (Failed)
5765 - export/examples/sr/Modules/Braille_pdf4_systemF (Failed)

The polyglossia package throws a (spurious) error because it asserts that
the font supports the Cyrillic script -- despite the document using Latin
script and language "Serbian (Latin)"!

Export fails with TL18 (after uninverting)

I updated unreliable:varying-versions.

That would be the next move. Günter may want to have a look at it first.

Why comment the tests out instead of just removing them?

Thanks for the info. I prefer released sources which are compilable. This looks
rather
a candidate for something like
autotests/export/latex/languages/french_braille.lyx.

I saw something similar the last time I tested polyglossia (before it
was released).

Regarding the fr Braille failures, Jürgen gave some advice, which I
quote here:

Yes.

\usepackage{etoolbox}
\AtEndPreamble{%
  \@ifpackageloaded{polyglossia}{\setotherlanguage{english}}{}
}

Both is ugly, but the example file has some more rather ugly tricks.

With today's TL19, most of the remaining tests pass.
(polyglossia updated today).
Remaining tests are

export/examples/fr/Modules/Braille_pdf5_systemF
export/examples/fr/Presentations/Foils_pdf5_systemF
export/examples/ko/cjk-ko-doc_pdf4_systemF

Günter, this is for you: The following inverted tests fail:

The way I switch between them is I move the older directory out, and the
director Jürgen mentioned into its place, and then I run mktexlsr (I
think this is needed to check if there are new files).

I created bash functions switch-polyglossia-to-dev and
switch-polyglossia-to-stable so I can switch back and forth to see what
the differences are.

It's new in polyglossia-master.
https://github.com/reutenauer/polyglossia/tree/master/tex

The file alone won't help you, though. Polyglossia has undergone a
massive revision (long-standing bug fixes) recently.

I think a release is planned in near future.

You mean gloss-latex.ldf? Where did you get this file from? (Not part of TL19

With the development version of polyglossia, it compiles successfully
for me (and the tests pass). Log is attached.

Ctest export failing with TL19

2019-09-22 Thread Kornel Benko
This warning is interpreted as error.
For instance in export/doc/Customization_pdf5_systemF
..
LaTeX.cpp (742): Log line: Class scrbook Warning: \float@addtolists detected!
LaTeX.cpp (742): Log line: (scrbook) Implementation of
\float@addtolist became

v3.01 2008/11/14 and
LaTeX.cpp (742): Log line: (scrbook) has been replaced by several
more flexible
LaTeX.cpp (742): Log line: (scrbook) features of package
`tocbasic`.
LaTeX.cpp (742): Log line: (scrbook) Since Version 3.12 support
for deprecated
LaTeX.cpp (742): Log line: (scrbook)  \float@addtolist interface
has been
LaTeX.cpp (742): Log line: (scrbook) restricted to only some of
the KOMA-Script
LaTeX.cpp (742): Log line: (scrbook) features and been removed
from others.
LaTeX.cpp (742): Log line: (scrbook) Loading of package `scrhack'
may help to
LaTeX.cpp (742): Log line: (scrbook) avoid this warning, if you
are using a
LaTeX.cpp (742): Log line: (scrbook) a package that still
implements the
LaTeX.cpp (742): Log line: (scrbook)  deprecated \float@addtolist
interface .
..

To reproduce without ctest:

Open lib/doc/Customization.lyx
Select output format to PDF (LuaTeX)
Select system fonts (no TeX)
Display

I had to use
\usepackage{scrhack}
in the preamble _and_ remove 'BCOR7.5mm' from the class options. Still,
lualatex exits with error.
Created pdf-file looks OK.
