Hello You Main_File is indeed corrupted, it terminates somewhere inbetween with a number of null characters (the other file is OK AFAICS). It would be interesting to know how the corruption happened, as this is of course a serious problem that should never happen. The file itself cannot be restored, but LyX should have made (different sorts of) backups which might be of help. Please refer to section 2.2 of the User Guide for where to find those backups. The po file contains #: lib/ui/stdmenus.inc:622 msgid "Navigate Back|B" msgstr "חזור אחורה|נ" The letter after "|" is the accelerator. [For the English audience: this is a question about whether it is possible to import PDF to LyX. Final UI translations for LyX 1.6.
Dear translators. as is tradition, we will release a final version of the 1.6 series, LyX 1.6.10, soon after LyX 2.0 has been released, that is, around the dawn of May. Please submit any translation and documentation updates by Friday, April 29. Remember that this will be the last chance to change translation in the 1.6 series, which will likely be around for some while despite, and in parallel to, the new 2.0 series. Regards, Jürgen

FAQ
Since it's a rainy day today, I've started to give the FAQ section on the wiki a somewhat sensible structure. Until now, the FAQ was organized with reference to some file FAQ.lyx that isn't existing anymore since a long time, some random thematic pages (with very different style) and a big "unsorted" page. Many of the answers are outdated, there are user edits such as "I tried your answer and it didn't work for me", etc. In other words: It's a big, big mess. My plan is to organize the FAQ related to larger thematic units. That's what I have started, but very much is still left to do. Please, if you find some time, help rearranging the pages so that it finally becomes a useful source of information. What needs to be done: * Move contents from general pages (such as http://wiki.lyx.org/FAQ/Running, http://wiki.lyx.org/FAQ/Using, http://wiki.lyx.org/FAQ/Unsorted and http://wiki.lyx.org/FAQ/Unsorted1) to thematic pages such as http://wiki.lyx.org/FAQ/Tables. The former pages should ideally be deleted eventually. * Integrate specific pages such as http://wiki.lyx.org/FAQ/MultipleAuthors into larger thematic units (these pages can be (:Include:)ed and then removed from the PageList) * All FAQs should be presented as FAQs, i.e. in the form - How can I do this? Do the following: ... IMHO, extended HowTos are not FAQs. Also things like: "John Doe wrote on lyx-users: ..." are not appropriate. * User comments such as "I tried your answer and it didn't work for me" do not belong to the FAQ. We should look if these concerns can be dealt with in the answer and remove such comments. In general, we should aim at a somewhat consistent style. Also, please watch out for outdated information. Thanks, Jürgen

Since I go no more translation updates after the mailing list revival, I will try to set up Lyx 1.6.6 now. Please stand by. Thanks, Jürgen

We are only a few bugfixes away from the next release. Please prepare for a release in about three weeks. Translation updates and patches should be submitted *no later* than Friday, April 23. No string changes will happen in branch as of now (except if any urgent issue requires this), so translators can already finish the po updates now, if they wish. Thanks, Jürgen

Unfortunatly there doesnt exist a lys book on the market, but a lot of good tutorials google-able, in german, too. Maybe at university there it could be a good idea printing the german tutorial at university printers? ;-) In my experience for big writings like diploma thesis it is the better way directly writing in latex (i.e. komascript). Hello, I'm answering in English, since this is an English speaking list. For specific document classes (such as DIN-Brief), try the examples in the examples folder and/or the templates (Datei > Neu von Vorlage ...) This file has been supplied by a user. I guess you should drop him a note (). You do not need a special class file. Use the biblatex module as described on the wiki. As for the example files on the wiki, you can just switch to "Book (memoir)" and add the biblatex module. But read carefully the instructions about the preamble commands (use of absolute paths etc.) Jürgen

Willis Gwenzi wrote: > Herewith the document that failed to print a pdf preview. The source of the problem is the bibliography. You put the whole reference into the label field. Have a look at the User Guide on how to use the bibliography environment. (The preview fails because of a unicode character conversion problem in the bibliography inset; this is a bug). Jürgen

If you put \includeonly{child1} in your preamble, LaTeX won't find it, because the tex file will be named something like 1_home_uwe_child1.tex This is the case since LyX 1.3 or so. Jürgen

I disagree. The native language for all strings is English. So the layout needs to be in English and then translated via gettext. Jürgen
