Hebrew bind file

2009-01-26 Thread Ran Rutenberg
Hi,

I tried to switch the Hebrew bind file on the lyx wiki (see:
http://wiki.lyx.org/Windows/Hebrew and
http://wiki.lyx.org/uploads/Windows/Hebrew/he_cua.bind), but I saw that a
password is needed.
I would appreciate if someone could upload the attached file instead of the
old one (the new one is better in the regard that it links to the cua bind
file instead of having it all inside the Hebrew bind file).
Furthermore, is it possible to have the file delivered with lyx instead of
having users download it manualy?

Sincerely,
Ran Rutenberg

Obsolete information in the FAQ?

2007-10-03 Thread Ran Rutenberg
Hi,

In sub-section 1.4 it is written that LyX needs XServer in order to have it
work on a Windows machine. As far as I can remember I didn't install any
XServer software when I installed LyX on a windows machine. Is this
information provided in the FAQ.lyx is correct regarding the newer versions
of LyX? I see that this FAQ was written originally for version 1.0.

Re: Problem testing translation

2007-09-30 Thread Ran Rutenberg
Hi,

After much work I've isolated the string that is causing the trouble. The
string id is 3569. The string itself is "[[Replace with the code of your
language]]". No matter what I'm writing as a translation (I even tried to
omit the square brackets) I'm getting the error I've described. If I don't
translate the string the error disappears.
I hope someone can help me get around this problem.

Thanks,

Problem testing translation

2007-09-28 Thread Ran Rutenberg
Hi,

I wanted to test a new he.po file, but since compiling it with today's svn
and installing I can't make it work. It is probably something that I changed
in the .po file in the last week. When trying to launch LyX the following
error appears:

Assertion triggered in const std::string lyx::to_ascii(const
lyx::docstring&) by failing check "ucs4[i] < 0x80" in file docstring.cpp:55
Aborted (core dumped)

I would appreciate it greatly if you would assist me knowing what went wrong
in the .po file and how to solve it. The .po file can be found in:

Untranslatable Strings in LyX

2007-09-23 Thread Ran Rutenberg
Hi,

I've noticed that I even if I translate the "Revert to Saved" string in the
po file the translation doesn't show up in the program itself (File>Revert
to Saved). The same problem happens in the View menu. If you open LyX
without opening any document and open the View menu there are two "No
Documents Open!". I can translate the upper one, but the bottom one keeps
appearing in English.

Did anyone else encounter this problem?

Ran, one question: Is it necessary to use the same note behind the word "LyX"?

Unfortunately, yes. There is a bug, which exists at least from 2003 (I
know that by examining old Hebrew files) that the direction of the
paragraph is set according to the first character. Therefore, when I
need to start a paragraph with the name LyX I have to insert a note
which is written in Hebrew.

Hebrew bind file

2007-05-14 Thread Ran Rutenberg

Hi,

As for now there is no bind file that enables Hebrew Users to easily
switch the language between Hebrew and English and vise versa that
comes with the LyX distribution. I would like to know if it possible
to add the attached file to the distribution and if it possible to
make it the default one when using LyX in Hebrew.
This file is based on the file that exists in the wiki, with an added
line that enables to switch the language back to English.

I couldn't upload the file to the wiki (
http://wiki.lyx.org/Windows/Hebrew ), so I would be glad if someone
could replace the cuaHeb.bind file that exists there with the modified
one.

Menu Separator in the Hebrew documentation.

2007-05-06 Thread Ran Rutenberg

Hi,

The Documentation Project Style Sheet states the one should use the menu
separator character when referring to menus. Alas, this character is good
only for LTR languages and is not suitable to RTL languages (see: bug
3560<http://bugzilla.lyx.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3560>)
. I thought about overcoming this problem using the vartriangleleft
character from the AMS Relations. Is this okay?

In order to produce output LyX needs LaTeX - Make sure you have it installed.

the Hebrew translation anymore.

I would be more than happy to assist with the translation, and

Hebrew.

I would like to mention that Hebrew is my native-language and I'm also
fluent in English as well.
