I don't know poEdit, but it probably fails because the encoding of he.po is wrongly defined: Content-Type: text/plain; charset=iso-8859-1 Open the file in a text editor and set that declaration to the encoding that is actually used (maybe iso-8859-8?). After that poEdit should be able to open the file. Georg

Dear Translators, I would like to start translating the LyX UI into Hebrew, but I ran into some problems. I tried to open the he.po file using a software called poEdit (I am running Windows XP) but I get an error that says "Failed to convert file contents to Unicode". Since I have no previous experience with the .po files, I will be glad if someone could give me some instructions on how to open them and edit them (if it is possible even to start the translation from the beginning, either the 1.4 UI or the 1.5 UI).
