Noel,

Thanks for your reply, but this is a mirror of the main site, that
doesn't help me, because all the downloads sites there require ftp,
ie. all the download file links begin with ftp// etc. etc. I'm
looking for a site that *downloads* using http, not ftp.

Anyway, thanks for trying OK.

Hi Shane,

I got it from

without any problem and it all installed beautifuly.

I also encountered the same problem with LyX 1.0. I created a new
document, and as long as there were only the environments 'title' and
'author', I was not able to preview the dvi. But after I had inserted the
first word in the 'standard' or 'Section' environment, the preview was
successful. This was reproducible.

Just use the Layout->Paragraph Dialogue: There you can choose between page
breaks below or above the current paragraph.

You have to define a (in this case) Swedish version of the layout file, and
of all the files it includes (directly, or indirectly). The names that
appears in the environment menu ("Standard", "Section", "Enumerate" etc)
are the actual name of the "Style"s in the layout files; the labels in
the buffer view ("Chapter", "Part #" etc) are set with LabelString in each
Style. (See Chapter 6 in Customization.lyx -- "Help->Customization", ummm
"Hjälp->Anpassning" for details) The only problem is that if you create
your own Style names, they will all be converted to "Standard" if you
switch from your new document class to the standard ones, as there are no
mechanism in LyX to decide how to substitute styles for eachother.
(think we could do with such a mechanism even for the original classes;
when an article grows into a report, Sections ought to be transformed to
Chapters, Subsections to Sections and vice versa..)

I translated the std*.inc files and the book, article, report and letter to
Swedish a few months back, but not in a particulary clever way (just made
full copies of the lot, and changed the Style and LabelString items; using
copystyle is probably better), and the original files has changed since
then. ...the letter class in LaTeX is inappropriate for Swedish (as for most
non-anglosaxon letters I suspect) anyway, scrlettr (KOMA) is probably
a better start for a Swedish "brev"-layout.

If not possible with the current version (1.0.0), as i guess, will it be

There is one point I do not understand: what is the need for

If we want to include this in LyX, a short documentation to add in

I guess this is the config.ps from dvips. Did you try to have a look
at lyxrc.example, copy it as lyxrc and edit the part related to

The printer configuration has not changed since 0.12.1pre8, so it is

Changing family is possible using the normal font changing commands. I

documented in the User Guide.

LyX and runlevel problem

1999-02-09 Thread Alexander Stasinski

Hi,

I have finally installed an RPM package of LyX 1.0.0 on my Red Hat
5.2 system and because these binaries are native under glibc LyX
works almost completely when I run at runlevel 5. There is a slight
problem though. I run Afterstep and in the wharf I put an icon for
LyX. This runs ok when I'm at runlevel 3, but it doesn't work at
runlevel 5, despite the fact that i can start LyX from an xterm!
What the heck could be the problem here?

By the way...when I minimize the LyX window a nice icon appears on my
desktop. Where in the package can it be found? I have not found it
anywhere among the files. Does anybody have it as an xbm-file?

Thank you all,

/Alex

Note that you cannot use the character popup, since this will make you
leave the math inset. However, the classical key strokes (along with
icons and menu) work: for example, if you type M-c b, the next
character you type will be in bold.

With version 1.3, there is not title added by the thebibliography
environment as LaTeX does. This means that you can add your own
section title before the bibliography items. Of course, this only
makes sense with bibliography that has been typed by hand.

Well,
my opinions are still from the 1.2 version, but as the description of the

So, usually I have to sort the bibligraphy to several sections, like
Referereed international journals, Referereed international
conference papers, Referereed international conference posters,
International patents etc. So the list of subtitles is allmost endless.
So do I make subtitles within the bibliography or multiple bibliographies

fixed subtiles won't work.

I've run ldconfig after installing xforms, and checked to make sure there are no
other versions of xforms living on my system.

Sorry, I mixed things up. "bibtopic" was initially based on, but not very
similar anymore to "bibtopics", and it's not yet on CTAN. You can grab it
from:

ftp://ftp.cis.uni-muenchen.de/pub/ulrich/bibtopic/

At least in the German TeX community, this package is getting very popular,
although it's still labelled beta software.

lyx icon (was RE: LyX and runlevel problem)

The icon is in the src distribution only.

Any idea how to get lyx-1.0.0 to use the icon under Sparc-Solaris-2.6,
with OW? Thanks,

Re: lyx on SGI

1999-02-09 Thread Harry Westfahl Jr.

Hi Roland,

I am also trying to run lyx on IRIX-5.3.
I first tried to compile the source with no success. Couldn't find
the xpm.h! (and probably because I don't have gcc but only c++).
Now I tried to install the binary static distribution, but as I type
lyx, it returns the message : Killed.
Do you have any other sugestion??? Greetings, Harry.

Re: lyx on SGI

1999-02-09 Thread Roland Krause

I am fairly shure, that the binary distribution is either outdated or
for IRIX-6.2 which wont work for 5.3.
You can therefore either get gcc and xpm and xforms and all the other stuff
you will need and compile it yourself or I can try to send you a binary.
Note though that you will have to have xpm and xforms libraries on your system.

No, never used Solaris, never had to :-)

Unidentified subject!

1999-02-09 Thread Jean-Marc Lasgouttes

I finally took some time to update the so-called cv class up to
version 1.3. The README file is appended. If no particular problem is
found and I find time to add a bit of documentation there, I will
included this in LyX for next version.

Keep in mind that this class is very simple and reflects my taste for
spartan page layouts :) There seems to be as many ideas of what a
cv/resume is as people writig those, so this class might not be for
you. I'll do my best to improve it, though.

You will find the files at:
http://www-rocq.inria.fr/~lasgoutt/lyx/cv-1.3.tar.gz

JMarc

This is a readme file for version 1.3 of my CV bundle. You have
3 files here:

- cv.cls: the actual LaTeX class. There are instructions inside on how to use
it directly. Put that in a place where LaTeX can find it.

- cv.layout: a textclass to use cv.cls with LyX. Put this textclass in your
.lyx/layouts directory, run LyX and execute Options->Reconfigure. Then
restart LyX and the new 'Curriculum Vitae' class should be available.

- cv.lyx: this is an example document written in LyX.

Noteworthy changes in this version include: support for itemize and
subsection, support for a second (more classical) set of fonts
(documentclass option `plain'), removal of the automatic section
before bibliography (you must add your own).

You are free to use these files as you see fit. All I ask in return is some
feedback: tell me what you like, what you don't like, give me nice examples.
