beginning of a chapter
Hi, is there an easy way to tell LyX always to start new chapters on odd pages (that means to insert blank pages if necessary)? I'm using the documentclass "report" for my thesis. Ok, here was my error: I tried to compare two "printings" with gohstview o xdvi, opening two of this windows... Both are always the same, because the last printing update the first, so it looks like changing fonts and Layout has no efect. Thanks Julian

Achim I am a bit running out of hints :) I seem to remember that there is a solution, but I don't know which one... One solution might be to switch to a better document class that report, for example one of the koma-script family (although I am not sure they help in this particular case). JMarc

"Chris" == ctdole [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes: Chris The upgrade helped. I only get an error the first time I output Chris to dvi or the printer. If I ignore the error and try again it Chris works. I am going recompile LyX now that I have upgrade the Chris tetex package and see if that helps. I really do not understand what is going on. The only strange thing is the version number of the setspace.sty file, which may make problems (only one digit in the day part). You might get an updated version from ftp://ftp.loria.fr/pub/unix/tex/ctan/macros/latex/contrib/supported/setspace/setspace.sty or any ctan mirror nerer from your site. You should place the file at /usr/share/texmf/tex/latex/misc/setspace.sty. Hope this helps. JMarc

In particular, what is the best approach for Ramon modifying existing document classes? For example, if "book" Ramon gives me 80% of what I want but I need to add some additional Ramon styles for algorithms and axioms and the like, should make a Ramon duplicate of the book textclass and modify it? Is there someway Ramon to maintain upwards compatibility with future releases of the Ramon official "book" class? Have a look at book.layout. You will find out that it mainly includes stdclass.inc. Now, stdclass.inc mainly includes a bunch of other .inc files which define sections, lists and others. If you want to create your own class, you can create a layout file which includes the common .inc files and then defines styles of its own. Another example of that is the ams layouts (although these also redefine some of the existing layouts). JMarc
A5 book with Lyx
Hello! I'm very happy using Lyx in producing one A5 book, but I have one problem. I'd like to print 2 A5 pages on one A4 paper for easier proof reading and later for final preparation. When I use psbook | file.ps psnup -2 tmp.ps, I'm getting too small letters because of scaling. However, when I use -s1 option with psnup, the upper part of the page is cut off. Does anyone has any suggestion how to solve this? Sincerely, Sasa Sasa Janiska Zagreb, Croatia E-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
