There are three methods:

1. Open master.lyx, open the insert reference dialog, and return to chap1.lyx.
Now, whenever you open the insert reference dialog in chap1.lyx, you will
get a list of all labels in all the files.

2. Open chap2.lyx, open the insert reference dialog, and without closing the

This doesn't work in LyX 1.1.6.

3. In LyX 1.1.6, type M-x reference-insert ref|++||++|label

Minitoc for Appendix

2001-02-21 Thread Martin Adorni

Hello,

What I want to do:
I would like to have table of contents (TOC) for the chapters and
sections of the appendix. It should be at the beginning of the appendix.
I've tried to manage it with the minitoc package but failed as I didn't
find a suitable solution.

Here's the problem:
* The listing of chapters with minitoc can only be done if I define the
appendix being a part and use \parttoc. The definition part* didn't work
- empty minitoc.
* That part definition results in an entry of the 'normal' TOC in a more
emphasised way than a chapter what I don't like (The appendix is really
not of major importance). Furthermore, the words 'Part I.' are written
above 'Appendix' :-(

What can I do?
Is there another way to have a minitoc with chapters listed?
Or do I have to redefine the part environment to get rid of 'Part I.'
and have a TOC entry like a chapter -- in this case what are the
commands?

I'm using version 1.1.5fix1. It is a book koma-script document.

Thanks for your help.

citation references

2001-02-21 Thread Eric Seynaeve

Hi All,

When I accidentally add some 'Text after' to my citation, I double-click on
the citation and delete this text (who wouldn't). But to my surprise, the 'OK'
and 'Apply' buttons remain disabled. It is only after moving a key to the
right-hand listbox and re-inserting it in the left-hand listbox it that these
buttons become enabled. Is this me or a bug?

And to stay with the citation references, I have following suggestion. Make
it possible to tab into the lists and start typing the first few characters of
your citation to select it. With a large list of citations (as is my case), it is
painfull to have to scroll in the list the whole time. It would also be nice to
be able to use, eg., ALT-arrow to control the actions of the buttons in the
middle (ALT-left arrow to move a citation key to the left-hand listbox and
ALT-right to bring it back to the right-hand listbox).

I'm using lyx1.6fix1.

paper on using Latex to annotate Xfig figures

ways to annotate included figures with Latex fonts
(including math mode fonts). The instructions
mostly deal with figures made using the Xfig program.
Here is the compressed Postscript of the paper,

and here is the tarred, gzipped source
directory containing the Lyx file and the example
Xfig files.

(The table of contents is not currently printing on my system;
I'll put up a fixed compressed Postscript file if I get it
working.)

I hope someone will find this useful. Comments are welcome,
but please CC me if you reply to the list since I read the

Well, you don't need to do anything. At the moment direct XML output is
not yet available (but it should be available in version 1.2.x) but you
can export to SGML and change only the two first lines, and it should
work. Personnaly what I change is:

!doctype book public "-//OASIS//DTD DocBook V3.1//EN"

to:

?xml version="1.0" encoding="iso-8859-1"?
!DOCTYPE book SYSTEM "file:///(full path)/docbookx.dtd"

Hello,

I've tried to manage it with the minitoc package but failed as I didn't

Here's the problem:
* The listing of chapters with minitoc can only be done if I define the

* That part definition results in an entry of the 'normal' TOC in a more

What can I do?
Is there another way to have a minitoc with chapters listed?

While getting familiar with the new version of Lyx,
I decided to go ahead and write up several of the
ways to annotate included figures with Latex fonts
(including math mode fonts). The instructions
mostly deal with figures made using the Xfig program.
Here is the compressed Postscript of the paper,

   http://www.datafilter.com/software/figuresInXfig.ps.gz

and here is the tarred, gzipped source
directory containing the Lyx file and the example
Xfig files.

   http://www.datafilter.com/software/howToUseLatexMathWithXfig.tar.gz

(The table of contents is not currently printing on my system;
I'll put up a fixed compressed Postscript file if I get it
working.)

I hope someone will find this useful. Comments are welcome,
but please CC me if you reply to the list since I read the

Well, you don't need to do anything. At the moment direct XML output is
not yet available (but it should be available in version 1.2.x) but you
can export to SGML and change only the two first lines, and it should
work. Personnaly what I change is:

!doctype book public "-//OASIS//DTD DocBook V3.1//EN"

to:

?xml version="1.0" encoding="iso-8859-1"?
!DOCTYPE book SYSTEM "file:///(full path)/docbookx.dtd"

I know, it is not automatic, but for me it works.

 I tried labeling the foot note then cross-refrencing to it. That
 actually worked except the cross-refrence was regular size text and not
 superscripted like a regular footnote.

in latex preamble:
\newcommand\sups[1]{\raisebox{1ex}{\footnotesize #1}}
in text in tex (red):
\sups{insert the crossref with lyx}

or alternative

insert-special character-superscript (since lyx 1.1.6)
(the blue mathbox appears)
insert \ref{
lyx inserts the closing parenthesis by default, so put between them
only the reflabel

To concur with Allan : wanting tabular to be centered by default is
like saying that LyX should add \textsf around section headings
because this is nicer... If tables are really better centered; then
someone should go ahead and look for a package that centers tables
automatically in LaTeX. The LyX could support it.

Rather than adding a LFUN for this particular use, it would be better
to have a more general way to alter paragraphs properties.

Suppose that your files are master.lyx, chap1.lyx, chap2.lyx,
and you want to insert a label from chap2.lyx to chap1.lyx.
There are three methods:

1. Open master.lyx, open the insert reference dialog, and return to chap1.lyx.
Now, whenever you open the insert reference dialog in chap1.lyx, you will
get a list of all labels in all the files.

2. Open chap2.lyx, open the insert reference dialog, and without closing the
dialog, return to chap1.lyx, and then insert the reference.
This doesn't work in LyX 1.1.6.

3. In LyX 1.1.6, type M-x reference-insert ref|++||++|
where  is the required label.

Yes, its grey! But it seems that this only happens if I import a jpg

is perfectly white. In xdvi or gv I hardly can see the effect but its
grey if I print it.
Wait! Maybe you mean something different! You see different backgrounds

I'm using lyx1.6fix1.

do you have layout->document->language->spanish in your lyx document?
if yes, do you have the spanish language package installed (for tex)?
if also yes, can you give a short lyx-example file?

Actually I don't know. As far as I know, the output translation is
completely different between the linuxdoc translation (using the sgml2xxx
perl scripts) and the DocBook translation (using the jade/jadetex tools,
called by sgmltools). But, maybe I'm wrong.

paper on using Latex to annotate Xfig figures

2001-02-21 Thread Allen L. Barker

While getting familiar with the new version of Lyx,
I decided to go ahead and write up several of the
ways to annotate included figures with Latex fonts
(including math mode fonts). The instructions
mostly deal with figures made using the Xfig program.
Here is the compressed Postscript of the paper,

   http://www.datafilter.com/software/figuresInXfig.ps.gz

and here is the tarred, gzipped source
directory containing the Lyx file and the example
Xfig files.

   http://www.datafilter.com/software/howToUseLatexMathWithXfig.tar.gz

(The table of contents is not currently printing on my system;
I'll put up a fixed compressed Postscript file if I get it
working.)

I hope someone will find this useful. Comments are welcome,
but please CC me if you reply to the list since I read the
list from the archives.

Well, you don't need to do anything. At the moment direct XML output is
not yet available (but it should be available in version 1.2.x) but you
can export to SGML and change only the two first lines, and it should
work. Personnaly what I change is:

in latex preamble:
\newcommand\sups[1]{\raisebox{1ex}{\footnotesize #1}}
in text in tex (red):
\sups{}

or alternative

insert->special character->superscript (since lyx 1.1.6)
(the blue mathbox appears)
insert \ref{
lyx inserts the closing parenthesis by default, so put between them
only the reflabel

try the following chaptoc.sty. i adopted it from a texbook,
but can't remeber if it worked with appendix.
put it in ~/.TeX and add in latex preamble \usepackage{chaptoc}

Have you tried to do it by hand (sgmltools -b html yourdoc.sgml) to see
what happens?
