{ANNOUNCE] Lyx 1.2.0a for Win32

2002-07-04 Thread Claus Hentschel

I've updated LyX 1.2.0 for Win32 (and named it 1.2.0a):

  - reconfiguration called from inside LyX now works correctly.

  - setting individual margins with A4 papersize now does work.
(they were ignored in 1.2.0 before on all operating systems!)

  - if an image file does exist in different formats located
in the same directory, LyX will not convert the image file.
(this is the same behaviour as in LyX 1.1.6fix4)

  - lyxwin32.exe now does accept filenames as arguments. Therefore
it is possible to dragdrop LyX files on to the desktop icon.

The complete distribution file (ZIP format) as well as all updated packages
(BZ2 format) are available as usual here:

If you have a 104-key keyboard (the ones with the three extra Microsoft

Hi Niklas Jose et al.

 Here comes the usual...

 - Did you issue a make distclean before building again with
 xforms-frontend?
 - Do you use gcc 2.95.* ? If not, what version?
 - The gnome-frontend isn't very likely to build as is the
 qt2-frontend
 - Did you use other optimizations-flags in previous builds in the

Okay I'll confess partial guilt here. I tried again on Wednesday to
build it again, but instead of distcleaning as I had done before I rm
-r 'ed the directory structure and started again as it were with
untarring the tarball.

It built without problem. The problem I imagine was 'make distclean'
missing some 'muck' somewhere as it were. My libforms setup was I
believe broken when I first tried to build lyx.

So I'm guessing that frontends/.libs/libfrontends.a(xforms.o): was
built against the wrong version and was not getting cleaned as it were.

Though I am mostly definitely not a programmer, so that could all be
completely and utterly wrong.

But anyway it worked and I'm happy, so many thanks!

Clipboard Unicode

2002-07-04 Thread Martin Gruner

Hello all,

I am a german, and I want to write a german document containing greek text
portions. So far I can do this using babel, the language settings in lyx
(assigning greek to those text pieces) and utilizing a special
transliteration for writing greek text (e.g. the latin-1 word logos for the
greek word logos). This does work!

What I want to do now: I would like to insert greek text from a third
application via clipboard. This text comes in Unicode (not in transliterated)
and renders well using fonts like Code2000 in KDE 3. I changed the screen
font to Code2000 and the screen font encoding to iso10646-1, which should
work with greek text. Also, elatex should be able to process it, no?

Now: Whenever I try to select greek text and paste it in Lyx all I see is
?? marks, no matter what the language of the current paragraph is.

Did I explain the problem well? Is it my mistake? What do I need to change /
configure in order to get this to work?
Any help would be highly appreciated!

If you have a 104-key keyboard (the ones with the three extra Microsoft
keys), then most distros map the "compose" key to the right "flying window"
key. Forming accented characters with the compose key is very simple:
 + <,> + = ç
 + <~> + = ã
etc...
For the full list of compose sequences, see
http://www.iain.thomas.dial.pipex.com/composekeys.html.
Hope that helps,

Hello André,

this is what I get when running: lyx -dbg 4 and pressing the ^ button:

Setze Debug-Level auf 4
Analysiere `key' (Verarbeitung von Tastatureingaben)
WorkArea: Key is `' [0]
WorkArea: Keysym is `dead_circumflex' [65106]

This is obviously different from yours, so I guess this might be a
config problem, isn't it?
Is this possibly a consequence of wrong selection of .bind file (still
default, I think cua-binding)

I have choosen "Generic 105-key (Intl)PC in X

Thomas

What happens if you type '^' and space afterwards?

Andre'

Clipboard & Unicode

2002-07-04 Thread Martin Gruner

Hello all,

I am a german, and I want to write a german document containing greek text
portions. So far I can do this using babel, the language settings in lyx
(assigning "greek" to those text pieces) and utilizing a special
transliteration for writing greek text (e.g. the latin-1 word "logos" for the
greek word logos). This does work!

What I want to do now: I would like to insert greek text from a third
application via clipboard. This text comes in Unicode (not in transliterated)
and renders well using fonts like Code2000 in KDE 3. I changed the screen
font to Code2000 and the screen font encoding to "iso10646-1", which should
work with greek text.
