That is correct. You have to highlight a particular key in either browser to

The possible approaches:

1. If no key is highlighted show nothing.
2. If no key is highlighted show the contents of the first one in the list
of selected keys.
3. If no key is highlighted show the contents of all keys in the list of
selected keys.
4. If no key is highlighted then highlight the first key in the list of
selected keys.

(1) is what we do now.
Choices (2) and (3) would lead to a special casing when the dialog is
displayed for the first time. Any manipulation of the keys results in one
key being highlighted always.
(4) would result in self-consistency but leaves me asking why is the key
highlighted when I have not explicitly selected it?

Personally, I think that there are UI issues with all these approaches but
that choice (1) conforms best to the principle of least surprise. I
certainly don't think that it's a 'nasty bug'.

Which class? The bibliography title is hardcoded as section* in article and as
 chapter* in book.

A quick and dirty solution is to disable the environment. E.g. in book
class, write with ERT just before the BibTeX inset:

 \def\chapter*#1{}
 (article: \def\section*#1{})

Then can set you own title manually, but you also have to set pagebreak and,
if you need, \thispagestyle{plain} for the first page.

to display the info. I have to double click on the one shown in

display of figures inside lyx 1.3.0

2003-03-26 Thread Miki Dovrat
Hi,

Is there a way to stop lyx from converting to loadable format the figures?
My figures are set to do not display but whenever lyx encounters a figure
it tries to convert it anyway, and only after it loads it into memory it
does not display it.

The loading takes a lot of time and is very annoying (I have to wait about
20 seconds for each figure, and can't do anything until it finishes
loading).

My figures are eps and not that demanding. Is there a way around this?

Thanks

ANNOUNCE: LyX 1.3.1 for Win32

2003-03-26 Thread Claus Hentschel
Current release 1.3.1 now is available for Windows, too. Download as usual
from
http://www.fh-hannover.de/mbau/tim/hentschel/lyx/index.htm

This release is based on XForms 1.0 and again compiled using the old gcc
2.95-10 'out-of-the-box'. Building Lyx using the current gcc 3.2 from Cygwin
is not possible at the moment because XForms 1.0 can't be build using that
compiler. Also building a Qt-based version of Lyx 1.3.1 was not possible due
to some strange errors while linking.

This small file sends lyx 1.3.2cvs qt into an infinite loop

2003-03-26 Thread Helge Hafting
It is cut out from something I'm writing. I wrote it with 1.3.1
1.3.2 goes into an infinite loop as soon as it tries to display
a particular float that contains some ERT and some xfig
external insets. This file contains only the bad float,
and the only way to avoid instant disaster is to
do something like lyx -geometry 10x10 which don't
leave room for a document area at all.
The loop involves the X server in some way,
running remote puts more load on the
machine running X than the machine running lyx.
This happens using qt (from debian unstable) and gcc/g++ 3.2

Idealy, the scroll speed should be proportional to the distance that

importing graphics

2003-03-26 Thread Nirmal Govind
Hi.. I'm having trouble with getting some graphics into my file.. I have a bunch
of jpg files that I've included in my document.. LyX shows these images
perfectly well in the LyX window but when I view PDF using any of the three
methods, the images get really distorted.. I was hoping that at least pdflatex
would do a nice job since it handles jpg files directly (without converting it
to any other format) but no luck.. what do I need to do to get the PDF output
of the images to look like what it is in the LyX window?

Thanks,
nirmal

 \def\chapter*#1{}
 (article: \def\section*#1{})

Then can set you own title manually, but you also have to set pagebreak and,
if you need, \thispagestyle{plain} for the first page.

display of figures inside lyx 1.3.0

Idealy, the scroll speed should be proportional to the distance that

article problem

2003-03-26 Thread Joby Joseph
Hi,
  I am using lyx 1.3.0
I have an article created while in style 'article-komascript'
Now when I use 'article' style it gives me 3 errors while trying
to view .dvi. The errors are near preample.
The troule seems to be that three lines

\floatstyle{}
\newfloat{}{}{}
\floatname{}{}

seem to be added in the preamble of latex file it generates.
Any fix?

importing graphics

2003-03-26 Thread Nirmal Govind
Hi.. I'm having trouble with getting some graphics into my file.. I have a bunch
of jpg files that I've included in my document.. LyX shows these images
perfectly well in the LyX window but when I view PDF using any of the three
methods, the images get really distorted.. I was hoping that at least pdflatex
would do a nice job since it handles jpg files directly (without converting it
to any other format) but no luck.. what do I need to do to get the PDF output
of the images to look like what it is in the LyX window?

Thanks,

That is correct. You have to highlight a particular key in either browser to
have this information displayed. (Think about what we would do if your
citation inset cited several keys.)

We could maybe show the first one? Or show all of them if there is not
selection?

Yes, both are highlighted, but no info displayed. Okay, I figured how
to display the info. I have to double click on the one shown in
"selected" browser, it will display another reference that I have no
clue why it is displayed, then click it again! Only after that, the
info is displayed.

Again, I got the problem when I clicked on one of the citation
reference already in the article I am writing. I am not trying to
insert a new citation reference!

There is no such problem with xforms frontend.

display of figures inside lyx 1.3.0

2003-03-26 Thread Miki Dovrat
Hi,

Is there a way to stop lyx from "converting to loadable format" the figures?
My figures are set to "do not display" but whenever lyx encounters a figure
it tries to convert it anyway, and only after it loads it into memory it
"does not display" it.

The loading takes a lot of time and is very annoying (I have to wait about
20 seconds for each figure, and can't do anything until it finishes
loading).

My figures are eps and not that demanding. Is there a way around this?

Thanks

Dunno much about the internals of float.sty, which is used here. Therefore a
shot into the dark (but it works)...

Write into the preamble:

\makeatletter

and the loa header disappears. I hope this has no bad side effects.

ANNOUNCE: LyX 1.3.1 for Win32

Idealy, the scroll speed should be proportional to the distance that
the pointer is out of bound. This is the best approach and is used by
the windows programs such Excel.

You can use the "Shift+Arraw" to select text.

I've just confirmed that setting LANG=pl_PL means you get ERT instead of

The current CVS head and lyx-1.3 branch have a fix for this problem.

I compile LyX with the latest gcc on Cygwin all the time.

The Cygwin patch I sent to lyx-devel can probably even be applied
to the lyx-1.3.1 tar ball without problems.

This is "as designed". Qt will *not* let us set a font that is of the
wrong locale, no matter what we do. And it thinks the symbol fonts are
of the wrong locale :(

It is, frankly, fucking stupid of Qt, but we cannot do anything, I am

Ah, the problem is the "nobuffer" menus. Remove those completely, and
all references to them.

Re: Bibliography title formatting

2003-03-26 Thread Owen Lucas
This is how I would do it
Just before the place where the bibtex bibliography is placed put in ert
\renewcommand\bibname{\tiny Bibliography}

you can replace tiny with whatever latex you want to format the text

I mean I have to reformat just the font and spacing of the title
"Bibliography" not the items.

Same sort of thing as what I suggested for the bibliography
but this time but instead of inserting list of Algorithms place in ert
\listof{algorithm}{\tiny List of What you want}

where \tiny can be replaced with whatever formating options you want.

Thanks. That worked beautifully for me to meet my thesis
requirements.

Similarly, I also have to format the headers of "List of Algorithms"
Any hints on that? Thanks. I'm desperate as the end of the semester
looms ahead.
