As lyx doesn't use Unicode internally, you need to specify the locale:
Before running lyx, set the LANG environment variable to 'he_IL'. This can
be done in .bashrc/.tcshrc. Alternatively, alias lyx to 'env LANG=he_IL lyx'.

There are a variety of ways the configuration script can fail under

Try this:
"Edit the configure.bat manually.
The problem is when LyX and user's %HOME%/.lyx do not live on the
same drive - Edit->Reconfigure fails from within LyX then.
A minor change from %~p0 to %~dp0 everywhere in the batch file fixes that."
After that reconfigure LyX again (menu Edit->Reconfigure).

Try './configure --with-frontend=qt' instead. The default is to use
the xforms gui library, but the qt alternative is far prettier.

Again ... I just tried to manipulate the
lyxpreview2bitmap.sh script and found a strange (to me) character on the
line:

${GS} -q -dNOPAUSE -dBATCH -dSAFER \
-sDEVICE=${GSDEVICE} -sOutputFile=${BASE}%d.${GSSUFFIX} \
-dGraphicsAlphaBit=${ALPHA} -dTextAlphaBits=${ALPHA} \
-r${RESOLUTION} ${PSFILE} ||
What does exactly mean this %d ???
Anyway, after having cancelled this strange thing, the script generates
well the ppm file. However, still no output. I checked my preferences
and for ppm I have selected display from imagemagick.
Another thing, having written a simple $a+b$ math inset, if I click in
the lyx window I get now a crash. Re-writting the %d, it does not crash,
I checked 20 times.

Any idea now ?

Ernesto,

I've found that small fragments of code can be effectively presented using
Standard and Layout->Character->Family->Typewriter.

EJ,

  Most document types contain the 'LyX-code' style. On the widget where the
'standard' style is displayed, click the down-arrow and scroll through the
list until you see that selection. It will change the highlighted text (or
the line on which the cursor is located) to momospaced font.

Hi,

I am using lyx 1.3.4 with the QT frontend on linux (Mandrake).

Can anyone what fonts lyx uses for its menus and pop-up windows (search,

My problem is displaying of Hebrew (or more precisely inability to

The global font definitions of the KDE, as well as the screen fonts and
pop-up fonts defined in the lyx preference file do not seem to affect the

Source specials for dvi->latex?

2004-04-15 Thread Alexander . Kluge
Hello!

First, I apologize for a FAQ, but I didn't came out with an answer.

To switch from LaTeX (Win XP, Miktex, WInedt) to dvi (yap), Shift Ctrl-S or
Shift Ctrl-V does this. To switch back, double click in the preview panel in
Yap switch back to the corresponding LaTeX-paragraph. Doing so when using Lyx,
"no source specials" appears. Is this a temporary bug or does Lyx just sinply
doesn't insert source specials?

Thanks for your input.

Alexander
