Itemize inside proof?

2007-06-29 Thread Nathan Russell

Hi,

I've been told it's possible in LaTeX to put an itemize inside a proof
environment without breaking the proof (so, no end proof symbol, no word
"proof" appearing after the itemize).

How do I do this in Lyx?

Thanks in advance.

I installed rc1 by running your updater against a 1.5 beta version.
Might that be the source of the discrepancy?

Yes, because as I wrote in my announcements, it only worked when you had installed LyX using
LyXWinInstaller "beta3-18-05-2007" before you run the update installer for RC1.

* When I create a new empty doc while having another one open (in my
case, actually two other docs open), the contents of the doc in the
other tab is still visible (screen is not cleared), except for the first
line which waits for my input. This doesn't change when I start typing,
only when I hit return.

Can't reproduce.

* Actually, the non-clearing screen also happens when I switch between
two tabs of existing docs, if one doc is too short to fill the entire
window area.

* [I'm sure this must be known already:] in an empty doc, type a word,
then insert a page break, go back to the end of the line before that,
hit control-return (to get this arrow-ish thing for a carriage return
w/o paragraph break); cursor doesn't jump to next line (which it should do)

When I correctly remember, both are already reported at bugzilla.lyx.org. If not please report them
there.

My first comment/question is, if you can install Qt 4.3 on an FC2 box, any
reason you are not allowed to just update the whole box to Fedora 7?

IIRC, the problem is pkg-config does not know where to look.
I think something like setting
export PKG_CONFIG_PATH=`find /usr/localTrolltech/Qt -name pkgconfig`
before running the lyx configure, would probably do it (assuming only one
pkgconfig directory).

LyX have squares among the many math symbols.
Look for them in the math menus/toolbars.

Or enter math mode (ctrl+m) and type:
\square for a square, or
\blacksquare for a black square.

Press the spacebar after the command, and the
command text should be replaced by the symbol.

There are a couple of ways to ge the symbol over on the right side.
You can insert->hfill to the left of the square, or you can put the square
in a paragraph of its own and make that paragraph right-adjusted.
