Tab key within table
I notice a slight problem when you like to insert an accentuated letter using the "command buffer" : when you key the "TAB" to have the window of the available functions appearing then you move also the cursor inside the table to the next cell obliging you to key again to come back to the proper cell to insert the accentuated letter. To open the window in the "command buffer" I am using: alt x tab. Is it correct ? Thanks and regards Paul

Article class, but lyx 1.4.5 I don't have 1.4.5, but I repeated the above experiment in 1.4.4, and again I got no differences. LyX file and DVI are attached. \[ is marked as 'bad math environment delimiter' in 1.4 so i cannot check your test I didn't mean that you should insert \[ and \]. What I listed above is the LaTeX produced by LyX. I used Insert->Math->Display formula, which provided the \[ and \] delimiters. Within the math inset, I typed \frac, \dfrac and \displaystyle \frac respectively, filling in the arguments. /Paul newfile1.dvi Description: Binary data newfile1.lyx Description: application/lyx

Have a look at makebst. http://www.ctan.org/tex-archive/macros/latex/contrib/custom-bib/ If you are not comfortable of doing this, just find a .bst file that is close to your publisher's style, and manually edit the .bbl file. Although personal.bind contains \bind_file math.bind in its last lines, file math.bind is not read by lyx. Any ideas? thank you -- Pol

(O/T) Latex Question
I realize this is not about lyx but I am using lyx first and then exporting to latex. My problem is that the journal I am submitting to (Philosophical Transactions Royal Society A) doesn't provide a bst file and insists that bibliography items be placed in the latex file in full. This is a pain because I use bibtex usually and have all my citations stored nicely in a bib file. Is there a macro or method for converting a latex file using a callout to a bib file to one in which all citations are listed at the end of the file after the command \begin{thebibliography}{}??? I see that the bbl file lists the references but doesn't seem to be in the correct format for inserting in the original latex file... Richard Kleeman

Because of the pagenumbering the first page of the appendix is a left page (page number=1). How can I change it so that this page has the page number 1 but is a right page? I don't understand what your proble is. It doesn't matter where the last page before the apendix ends. Appendix will start on the next right page and right pages have odd numbers. So it doesn't matter if the previous chapter endy on e.g. page 97 or 98, the appendix will start on page 99. I do not want to use /cleadoublepage before the appendix because I can not have any more pages. This cannot be serious. You are writing a book, not an article. And when your professor sets you a page limit for a thesis something is going wrong. regards Uwe

Re: Logo in lyx document class letter (g-brief, German)
Thanks a lot el (hope you don`t mind me posting your solution below, I changed all personal data). I did the preamble thing and managed to get a Background picture into my letter (for me it had to be in *.ps format though). What didn't work however was the ERT in the Name field: \protect{ \begin{center}My Name \end{center} } This produced (5x): """ LaTeX Error: Something's wrong--perhaps a missing \item. \end{document} Try typingto proceed. If that doesn't work, type X to quit. """ Without centering however the Logo and the Name overlap. So my question: Is there any other (ERT) way to "center" within the field "Name"? (Paragraph-Options for the Name field only support Left and Block, no Center) Thanks SK wrote: > SK, > > the short answer is to use g-brief2 and put whatever text you like > into the "ReturnAddress" field :-)-O > > The long answer: > > I wanted to center the "Name" and have a logo on the left in > g-brief2, so I circumvented it by putting: > > \usepackage{eso-pic} \usepackage{graphicx} > \newcommand\BackgroundPicture{% > \put(-210,380){\parbox[b][\paperheight]{\paperwidth}{% > \vfill\centering\includegraphics[width=3cm,keepaspectratio]{logo}\vfill}}} > \AddToShipoutPicture{\BackgroundPicture} > > into the Preamble (I use logo.jpg, but but a .png will also work) and > > > \protect{\begin{center}Your Name\end{center}} > > as ERT into the Name: field. > > You may have to play a little with your settings, in particular if > you use Letter since I use A4 and have adjusted my margins a bit, but > you should get the idea. > > greetings, el
lyx users small meeting
A couple of high schools in Milan (italy) area began using lyx to produce educational material, last year. Since this year we plan to give such work a boost, a meeting gathering all the people involved, both as users and developers, would be a nice idea. Anybody interested, please let me know, cc [EMAIL PROTECTED] Thank you Pol
Latex-problem: Pagenumbering in combination with two-sided document
Hello, I do not have a LYX - but a LATEX-problem. I hope somebody wants to help me anyways. Ok, I am writing my thesis as a two sided document (Komo-script book). How can I change it so that this page has the page number 1 but is a right page? I do not want to use /cleadoublepage before the appendix because I can not have any more pages. I hope somebody can help me. And sorry that this is not a lyx-specific problem! Christian
