Does noone have a clue?
More of a wild shot: Have you tried the Windows version of "sudo
texhash" (as it is in the *nix/Mac version)

Those document classes may not be included in MikTeX. Check
"Help"->"LaTeX Configuration" from menu which lists original resources
of those classes marked "not available".

Unfortunately, you need manually fetch classes from those resources and
install them under the TeX's texmf tree.

Seems like these long lines got wrapped by your mail program.

I learned, why my example does not work any more:

To use the new environments, you need to put the files
``a0poster-kh.tex`` und ``rgbtxt.tex`` from
http://www.physik.uni-augsburg.de/theo3/Comp/hp750c/computing_hp750c_A0.de.shtml
in a place where latex will find them and include the line::

  \input{a0poster-kh}

in the Document (as ERT).

LyX does not add a box around pictures, unless you
deliberately put the picture inside a box.

If you can't figure this out, post a small example lyx file
with the troublesome picture.

 Koma scritp have this features but finally I drop
this features and I make half-title page and
title-page with Tex commands.
 I think that this is not a disvantage of memoir.

Can't turn off numbering in TOC

2007-11-20 Thread Anthony Campbell
I'm using the Book class. I want to turn off the page numbering for TOC.
The Contents list extends over two pages.

I've put \thispagestyle{empty} after Tableofcontents, but the Table
appears with "3" on the first page though the second page is empty.
I think the problem arises because there are two pages; when there was
only one it was OK.

Is there any way to achieve this? If not, I'll just have to make the
thing manually.

Thanks. This already helps. However, www.sgmltools.org does not exist
anymore. Where do I get SGMLTools for Windows from? Google does not help
much, or did I overlook something?

From LyX menu:

Document->Settings->Numbering&TOC

Set numbering as appropriate.

No, I was talking about the page number at the bottom of the Table of
Contents, not the content. But, as a matter of interest, I tried
altering the numbering you mention and it didn't make any difference to
anything as far as I can see.

problems with references, apsrev

2007-11-20 Thread Jennifer Brookes

Hi,

I am using the document class REVTeX4 to write an article and JabRef to
write my references. JabRef writes bitex code that I can insert into
lyx. I have been using apsrev as the style to insert my references which
seems fine, except the second initials of authors never seem to come out
right. For example:

@ARTICLE{PRL,
 author = {J.C. Brookes and F. Hartoutsiou and A.P. Horsfield and A.M.
Stoneham},

 title = {Could humans recognize odor by phonon assisted tunneling?},
 journal = {Physics Review Letters},
 year = {2007},
 volume = {98},
 pages = {038101},
 owner = {Jennifer},
 timestamp = {2007.04.14}
}

in the .bib file, put when I export my document to .pdf I get:

[1] J.C Brookes and F. Hartoutsiou and A. Horsfield and A. Stoneham

where the P and M are missing. If I try something like plainnat as the
style, there is no problem, i.e.

[1] J.C. Brookes and F. Hartoutsiou and A.P. Horsfield and A.M. Stoneham

Except the sorting of the numbers goes all haywire and they appear
alphabetically not numerically.

Please can anyone help?

Many thanks
Jenny

Set the page style to be "empty" in the document dialogue. Then, at the
beginning of your main text, reset the pagestyle using an ERT box.

Is uninstalling required ?

2007-11-20 Thread Herve Autret

Hi there,

I'm new again in LyX, currently 1.5.1 under Linux. I've been trying
using it years ago, but I gave up because of difficulties in maintaining
 documents, especially when formulas had to be edited, as far as I can
remember. Importing to and from LaTeX was quite poor, too. I've tried
again : I just wanted to import a simple page and... It'been a long time
since I hadn't seen a frozen app ;-)

Let's say I'd better upgrade before trying again. So, my point : if I
compile Lyx, should I type make uninstall in Lyx-1.5.1 before make
install in 1.5.2, or just make install in the most recent source tree ?

I've uninstalled 1.5.1 (in case of...) and installed 1.5.2.

LyX-1.5.2 can't compile tex files, either. It hooks in an endless
waiting, as it forks(?) to run

sh -c latex 'latexdoc.tex'

When typed in a shell, sh -c makes latex to ask for the filename, so
noone can reply anything here...

Does anybody know what's going wrong here ?

Always a good idea. I've seen problems from this.

No, I'm not sure. I haven't seen this problem before. But if
latexdoc.tex exists, then latex should simply compile it when invoked in
that way. So it sounds as if there's a problem there on your system.

Thanks, Helge. After your question, I realized that in fact the box
was in the image itself, and it was not added by LyX.

SGMLtools was succeeded by SGMLtools-Lite. It can be found at:

As SGML is already becoming obsolete, you may want to consider using
