Re: Bibliography problem and [?] questionmarks
2010/1/15 Anastasia Melekou trob...@gmail.com: This is all a bit advanced for me. All I can do about encoding is change the way I export to bibtex from zotero and I choose utf8 for that, but I don't know were else I can change encoding in my lyx file. I created a new lyx file, a new library in zotero, exported it in the same folder as y file, tried ti add citation and the same thing happens. Occasionally I have had similar problems with missing bibliography items - almost always the problem seems to be from BibTeX entries that I have copied the titles directly from pdfs and the offending characters seem to generally be right or left quotes or em-dashes that bibTeX cannot cope with. I suspect that characters with Unlauts etc may also cause problems. When I clean up the offending entries - everything works -- Stephen
Document with PDFs
Dear all, I have a document with some images in PDF format. I have prepared the images in Inkscape (Windows XP). The document is being compiled in LyX 1.6.5 (Leopard). When the document is compiled the following message is presented: basic_filebuf::_M_convert_to_external conversion error I tried compiling the document in LaTeX directly and it worked perfectly. I also tried convert directly with one of the images, turning the PDF into a PS, and it also worked perfectly. Any idea? Thanks in advance. - Julio Rojas jcredbe...@gmail.com
Install Fourier package/style
I managed to get the Fourier-GUT package installed on my laptop, but now I have a netbook that I need to sync with the laptop files and *cannot* seem to find the info on how to install the Fourier-GUT in LyX. I tried doing what the readme said regarding using updmap, but keep getting an error that says could not find fourier.map at all. The file IS there, because I hunted around in the Fourier-GUT folders and found it. But the install is not finding it. Please note I am running Linux 8 Helena on my brand-new Gateway LT2108u netbook, so the above was accomplished via terminal. I have only been using Linux about 6 mos, so I don't know all the geek-speak (very little, actually). The instructions I've found usually seem written in ancient Sumerian, as I only recently left the Windows environment where you just click an .exe file and everything is installed for you. Simple, newbie, dummy-proof English would be most appreciated!! Thanks, Karen

You cannot install Fourier in LyX. It's a LaTeX package that should (preferabely) be installed via your Linux package manager. Under Debian (and probabely also under Ubuntu), you would just install the package texlive-fonts-extra. Please note I am running Linux 8 Helena ... I don't know about Helena, what kind of Linux distribution is this (Fedora, RedHat, SuSE, Debian, Ubuntu, ...)? Which LaTeX packages did you install? I tried doing what the readme said regarding using updmap, but keep getting an error that says could not find fourier.map at all. The file IS there, because I hunted around in the Fourier-GUT folders and found it. But the install is not finding it. This looks like a manual install. Some REAME files are not up-to date. My receipe is 1. copy to /usr/local/share/texmf/ 2. `mktexlsr` or `texhash` 3. create /etc/texmf/updmap.d/42*.conf with Map *.map Datei (see existing dvips/config/config.* or *.conf files) 4. `update-updmap` 5. `updmap-sys` Günter

Clear double page and start at left page
Dear all, I have two pages of graphs of a measurement in a two sided layout with normal left-to-right text. I use classicthesis. The graphs consists of four floats and should be printed on two pages opposite to each other, so when someone opens the document, one can see all four graphs at once. Until now, I tried with clear page, clear double page ect. to do this. Unfortunately after 'clear double page', a right (odd) page starts, which is expected behaviour. I want to change this to left for this case. In the other parts of the document, clear double page should behave normally. Does anybody have some suggestions? Maybe clever use of minipage or ERT? Thanks, Corné
