Installing Lyx 2.0 with Mac OS X 10.4

2011-11-24 Thread Reza Lahidji
All,
I'm trying to install Lyx2.0 on my (already) old Mac, side by side with my
previous 1.6 version. I carefully follow the installation instructions, but
nothing happens when I start Lyx. Any idea why?
Thanks for your help,

Please, verify if your problem is described here:

There you'll find a link to download the Mac OS X 10.4 package.

Please note, you have to install Python 2.4 or better somehow.

If all fails you have to explain your steps more detailed.

Many thanks Stephan. Your fix works... but it looks like the new version doesn't
include or find some of the documents classes and modules I'm using. I get the
following messages:

The selected document class

requires external files that are not available.
The document class can still be used, but the
document cannot be compiled until the following
prerequisites are installed:
report
See section 3.1.2.2 (Class Availability) of the

And

The module theorems-std has been requested by
this document but has not been found in the list of
available modules. If you recently installed it, you
probably need to reconfigure LyX.

And then the same thing for another module (theorems-chap).

I tried to reconfigure, but it doesn't work.

openSUSE 11.2 with KDE 3.5.10. I don't know the clipboard manager, can it be
the klipper applet that is shown on the panel?

Thanks,

If it's KDE, then I don't know. Have you tried removing the applet?
Also experiment with some other clipboard managers, such as
Parcellite.

Just and addon:

The problem does not affects lyx 1.6.9 _on_the_same_ system.
However lyx 1.6.9 is an openuse build service build, lyx 2.0.1 is my own build.

Off topic: Why my name is removed from the sender line on the MARC mailing list?

FYI: I maintaining a build of 2.0 branch for openSUSE 11.2 on the opensuse
buildservice:

http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/cornelisbb:/lyx-
unstable/openSUSE_Evergreen_11.2/

I am also maintaining the official build on opensuse, but 11.2 is not
offically supported (but some keep it allive as an "evergreen" project):

http://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Evergreen
