Hi,

How do you put a line in the header just at the beginning of chapters
and nowhere else? Thanks for your help.

This depends upon the document class, but chapters normally set the page
style to something specific. So one way to do it would be to redefine
that page style...whatever it is. But to explain how to do that we need
more information, at least what document class you are using. And
probably also more specifically what you want to put in the header.

I think this will do it:

\fancyhead[LE,RO]{\thepage}

(put this in the preamble); might need to add

\usepackage{fancyhdr}

as well but I'm not sure about that.

lyx page number positions

Hi,

I'm trying to put page numbers in Lyx on odd pages in the right hand corner and
even pages in the left hand corner. Thanks for your help.

Re: Problem about Lyx2+

Does the MiKTeX bin directory appear on you system command path (prior to any
other LaTeX installation, and prior to Cygwin if you have Cygwin installed)?

You might try setting Tools > Preferences > Paths > PATH Prefix to point to the
MiKTeX bin directory and then try to reconfigure.

If that's the error, then the problem looks to be a missing command.
You're asking python to run the docx file. I'd check the definition of
the converter.

The file format and the definition of the converter should probably
happen within LyX, anyway. I'll be happy to add this to 2.0.4.

This looks like a problem in the kerning tables of the fonts. It seems to me
that LatinModern does a better job at kerning these character pairs.

Fixing the kerning is difficult, see
http://tex.stackexchange.com/questions/10455/is-there-a-way-to-adjust-kerning-
for-a-specific-character-combination

If you need this specific font, you could define a macro such as
\newcommand\myve{V\kern-1pt é}
Where you fix the kerning for specific pairs (and sizes). A crude hack, I
know.

You might also check the TeXGyre Pagella font instead of Palatino. Pagella is
a Palatino clone from the LatinModern makers.

Since you installed python after you installed LyX, you should
reconfigure LyX (from the Tools menu).

kerning and accented characters

2012-03-06 Thread Csikos Bela
Hello:

Certain character pairs look very ugly in lyx/latex output.
For example if V is followed by Hungarian accented a or e (ie. á or é) it looks
very ugly.
See the attached lyx and pdf files.
I know that I could use \kerning command to adjust the distance between the
characters but
how could I avoid inserting the command at every occurrence of such character
pairs?

Thanks,

bcsikos

Hi,

I think you can remove the headers in the documents settings, "Page

Unfortunately, aspell is no more supported on recent LyX on Windows,
