Looks like I could not make myself clear enough - sorry for that.

What I meant was to cite references from two or more different bibtex 
files in a somewhat simpler way than loading the second, third or 
fourth file into the document and activating the 'Sectioned 
bibliography' option under Bibliography Style in LyX's Document 
setting dialog.


You only need to do sectioned bibliographies if you want to references 
to be separate somehow. If you just want them all in one place, then 
just choose the various files.

Hi Richard,
thanks for your info. That is exactly what I found out yesterday by myself.
Some weeks ago I had to write a thesis with four bibliographies each 
with respective names  for a special linguistic category.
Now, that worked eventually after I activated the sectioned bibliography 
option but not without adding some other tricks Jürgen Spitzmüller told 
me. That's probably the reason why I did not think of trying the most 
obvious thing.

LyX dialogs not using theme icons any more?

Hello,

I only just noticed after upgrading to LyX 2.1.3 that the dialog boxes
such as File-Open, File-Save etc. no longer used the system theme for
icons (but instead a faded blue).

Maybe I was just lucky enough that in 2.1.2, LyX's own theme was just
very close to my system theme? Has something changed? Perhaps a new
setting that I have overlooked?

Nothing of this sort that I know of. Furthermore, the second message sent
is automatically generated by the mailing list server from the mail I have
sent, and I have no way of changing the 'address' from which I send emails.
I have also received an automated warning before removal once, which was
directed to the exact address stated above.

Oops--I thought Tools  Reconfigure was only for LaTeX packages... I
only restarted LyX. Now european.kmap seems to work as it should. 

That's not quite the way I want my keyboard to work, but I'll try and
use this file as a template for my own perso.kmap, not forgetting to
reconfigure each time :-)

Now I'll try and play with the settings, and hopefully get this working.

You know, that there is a GUI for key configuration under ToolsSettings?
This should work without reconfiguration.

cases. It may be, that some distributions have undertilde.sty and some

After reconfiguring, my perso.kmap file does something indeed, but not
what I would expect. Here is what I put in it:

Do you mean ToolsSettingsShortcuts? Well I have made a shortcut, as a
workaround, for typing the cedilla c (Ctrl+Shift+c). But I don't know
how to make a shortcut involving a dead key, namely, the acute accent.

This may explain why we did not spot the problem until now. OTOH, the
existence of a special case handling in LaTeXFeatures.cpp indicates that
this may be a regression (for TeXLive users) ...

Oops--I thought Tools  Reconfigure was only for LaTeX packages... I
only restarted LyX. Now european.kmap seems to work as it should. 

That's not quite the way I want my keyboard to work, but I'll try and
use this file as a template for my own perso.kmap, not forgetting to
reconfigure each time :-)

Now I'll try and play with the settings, and hopefully get this working.

You know, that there is a GUI for key configuration under ToolsSettings?
This should work without reconfiguration.

Before applying this, we would need to check why it seemed to work in some
cases. It may be, that some distributions have undertilde.sty and some
undertilde.tex, the something like

There is a package undertilde.sty, but it is not included in TeXLive,
probably since it has no proper license:

After reconfiguring, my perso.kmap file does something indeed, but not
what I would expect. Here is what I put in it:

\kmod ` grave aeiouAEIOU
\kxmod acute c ç
\kxmod acute C Ç

but still 'c gives me an accented c. Moreover, I can no longer type
the apostrophe with acute accent+space: acute accent+2 spaces gives me
an empty acute accent...

Do you mean ToolsSettingsShortcuts? Well I have made a shortcut, as a
workaround, for typing the cedilla c (Ctrl+Shift+c). But I don't know
how to make a shortcut involving a dead key, namely, the acute accent.

It's Linux Mint Debian (essentially the same as Debian Testing).

If you do not do anything special, it is supposed to just work IMO.

I can reproduce your problem with my oldish Ubuntu 12.04. However, the 
same happens in all Qt applications. Therefore the bug is not ours and 
the solution, if any, needs to be searched in qt-relqted forums IMO.

This may explain why we did not spot the problem until now. OTOH, the
existence of a special case handling in LaTeXFeatures.cpp indicates that
this may be a regression (for TeXLive users) ...

Jean-Marc, you're absolutely right! I have very few qt-apps but I
managed to try Ipython-qtconsole (which I never use) and I indeed get an
accented c there too. I should not have blamed LyX!

I'll search the qt-forums, but perhaps in the meantime LyX will come up
with some form of automatic correction that will turn all my  ć into 
ç  ...

Looks like I could not make myself clear enough - sorry for that.

What I meant was to cite references from two or more different bibtex 
files in a somewhat simpler way than loading the second, third or 
fourth file into the document and activating the 'Sectioned 
bibliography' option under Bibliography Style in LyX's Document 
setting dialog.


You only need to do sectioned bibliographies if you want to references 
to be separate somehow. If you just want them all in one place, then 
just choose the various files.

Hi Richard,
thanks for your info. That is exactly what I found out yesterday by myself.
Some weeks ago I had to write a thesis with four bibliographies each 
with respective names  for a special linguistic category.
Now, that worked eventually after I activated the sectioned bibliography 
option but not without adding some other tricks Jürgen Spitzmüller told 
me. That's probably the reason why I did not think of trying the most 
obvious thing.

LyX dialogs not using theme icons any more?

Hello,

I only just noticed after upgrading to LyX 2.1.3 that the dialog boxes
such as File-Open, File-Save etc. no longer used the system theme for
icons (but instead a faded blue).

Maybe I was just lucky enough that in 2.1.2, LyX's own theme was just
very close to my system theme? Has something changed? Perhaps a new
setting that I have overlooked?

I tried it, though it's not designed for keyboard with dead keys, but
nothing changed (",c" --> comma and "c"; "'c" --> accented "c"). LyX
seems to disregard any kmap file I choose in the preferences...

Oops--I thought Tools > Reconfigure was only for LaTeX packages... I
only restarted LyX. Now "european.kmap" seems to work as it should. 

That's not quite the way I want my keyboard to work, but I'll try and
use this file as a template for my own "perso.kmap", not forgetting to
reconfigure each time :-)

Now I'll try and play with the settings, and hopefully get this working.

You know, that there is a GUI for key configuration under Tools>Settings?
This should work without reconfiguration.

Before applying this, we would need to check why it seemed to work in some
cases. It may be, that some distributions have "undertilde.sty" and some

There is a package undertilde.sty, but it is not included in TeXLive,
probably since it has no proper license:

It is included in MikTeX, though.

The plain tex package undertilde-gen, on the other hand, which provides
undertilde.tex, is included both in MikTeX and TeXLive:

I have no idea if the could replace each other easily.

After reconfiguring, my perso.kmap file does something indeed, but not
what I would expect. Here is what I put in it:

Do you mean Tools>Settings>Shortcuts? Well I have made a shortcut, as a
workaround, for typing the cedilla "c" (Ctrl+Shift+c). But I don't know
how to make a shortcut involving a dead key, namely, the acute accent.

It's Linux Mint Debian (essentially the same as Debian Testing).

If you do not do anything special, it is supposed to just work IMO.

I can reproduce your problem with my oldish Ubuntu 12.04. However, the 
same happens in all Qt applications. Therefore the bug is not ours and 
the solution, if any, needs to be searched in qt-relqted forums IMO.

This may explain why we did not spot the problem until now. OTOH, the
existence of a special case handling in LaTeXFeatures.cpp indicates that
this may be a regression (for TeXLive users) ...

This is quite strange, as *both* packages have the license status

Maybe there is a purging process running and undertilde.tex will also be
removed from TeXLive at some point.

Not easily:

* undertilde.tex (undertilde-gen) defines \undertilde
  undertilde.sty (undertilde) defines \utilde

bet­ter.

Looks like a task for LaTeX configuration (search for the packages and
insert the correct code). Alternatively, LaTeXFeatures could insert:

Jean-Marc, you're absolutely right! I have very few qt-apps but I
managed to try Ipython-qtconsole (which I never use) and I indeed get an
accented c there too. I should not have blamed LyX!

I'll search the qt-forums, but perhaps in the meantime LyX will come up
with some form of automatic correction that will turn all my " ć "into "
ç " ...

I doubt I can use that workaround because my DE is XFCE, and I have no
trace of im-switch or other KDE advanced tweaks :-(

fourth file into the document and activating the 'Sectioned 
bibliography' option under Bibliography Style in LyX's Document 
setting dialog.


You only need to do sectioned bibliographies if you want to references 
to be separate somehow. If you just want them all in one place, then 
just choose the various files.

Hi Richard,
thanks for your info. That is exactly what I found out yesterday by myself.
Some weeks ago I had to write a thesis with four bibliographies each 
with respective names  for a special linguistic category.
Now, that worked eventually after I activated the sectioned bibliography 
option but not without adding some other tricks Jürgen Spitzmüller told 
me. That's probably the reason why I did not think of trying the most 
obvious thing.

Or, perhaps, you have more than one e-mail address, or perhaps an alias,

LyX dialogs not using theme icons any more?

Hello,

I only just noticed after upgrading to LyX 2.1.3 that the dialog boxes
such as File-Open, File-Save etc. no longer used the system theme for
icons (but instead a faded blue).

Maybe I was just lucky enough that in 2.1.2, LyX's own theme was just
very close to my system theme? Has something changed? Perhaps a new
setting that I have overlooked?
